Routinely in our house I am the main family photographer – a role bestowed on me at the start of our marriage in order to ensure that all important events and day-to-day life is documented. Of course I happily take on this role because I love photo’s and photography esp when it involves my 2 favourite subjects. The only problem with this scenario is that I never seem to APPEAR in any of the photo’s…. If my children look back on our photo’s one day they may wonder if I was ever around (although of course I was always around BEHIND the lens!!) Recently I read a few articles which sent out a challenge to moms everywhere in the same predicament…. to get in the shot and leave proof of your existence esp some shots of you WITH your kids! Imagine 🙂
So, I am taking up the challenge to find creative ways of stepping out from behind the lens and into the picture. So should you!
Here are a few of the articles I enjoyed…
Getting in the shot and She left proof @ Ashley Ann Photography
Embrace the Camera @ The Anderson Crew
p.s. I especially enjoy the idea of roping the kids in to take pics and have recently given my 4.5 year old a camera of his own (an old point and shoot digital) He expressed an interest in using my SLR which was always a bit heavy for him and nerve wracking for me so this is a much better bet. He loves being able to take pics of his little sister and toys and some of his mom too! All are a bit blurry at the moment but he is learning fast. Who knows maybe we are have the next winner of the Wildlife Photography of Year on our hands?
this is sooo true
great post 🙂
