It’s the summer school holidays which, for families with small kids, means lots of fun in the sun enjoying the pool or beach, but sometimes you just need to head indoors away from the heat and veg out a bit…
And this is where the new daily family movie from M-net comes in to play! Each day at 4pm M-net Movies Family Channel (DStv channel 105) will be showing a fun family-friendly movie. Some of the movies you can expect to see over the coming days are: Turbo, Bolt, The Chronicles of Narnia, Space Jam, Scooby Doo and The Polar Express. Click this link to view the entire DStv schedule online. (And if you have PVR then I suggest setting “record” every day at 4pm for an awesome movie selection to keep kids quite at other times of the day or night!)
What’s even more genius than a daily kids movie at the exact time when moms everywhere need a moment to themselves is that DStv are looking to get kids actively engaged while watching their favourite movies and they have prepared an awesome M-Net Movies’ Pinterest Page page with hundreds of activities to keep kids busy all themed according to the daily film, so you and your child can create amazing crafts while watching the movie! The page is updated daily with the relevant theme so if The Bee Movie is on that day, then they’ll have a Bee DIY cut-out masks as the suggested craft. Other Pinboards for particular movies already available include Santa Paws, Finding Neverland, Wall-E, Shark Tale and The Fox and the Hound, among others. It really is a brilliant way to use social media and a worthwhile Pinterest page to follow and bookmark for future idea esp when it comes to planning a birthday party around a particular movie!
PLUS starting today (Thursday 18 December) until Sunday 21 December, DStv’s M-Net Movies Family channel will also be hosting kiddies DIY activity sessions at the V&A Waterfront Ampitheatre. Dedicated child minders will be on hand to look after the kids and there will be a photo booth, games, face painters, balloon artists, play dough, colouring-in and activity packs to take home too all themed around the festive movie line-up!
Sounds like it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a fun family outing this weekend!
