Life Lately – June 2016

The assumption is that if you’re reading my blog you must like keeping up with what’s going on in my life, Well, aside from the few haters who love to read my blog and then leave nasty comments – please move swiftly along if you’re a hater. I’m not interested!

Anyway if you’re not a hater, then I apologise. There haven’t been very regular blog posts of late. Life is getting the better of me. Well, my life responsibilities are.

The past month has been another level of insane. We have been packing up OUR WHOLE HOUSE and living amidst the boxes for far too long.

At one point we had 2 fridges and the top loader in the middle of our kitchen and had to wind our way around them all in order to wash up, or make supper! But you do what you have to I suppose…

Whose stupid idea was this?! #renovating #chaos #boxesfordays

Finally we are out. We moved all our furniture and belongings into storage on Thursday and then moved into a little rental cottage near our house which will be our home for the next 2 months. It is cute and compact and all we need for this short season. I am relieved to be in a quiet space considering for the past 3 weeks I’ve had builders banging out the wall on the other side of my desk, literally!

And in amongst the packing and packing and packing…. I enjoyed the 5 course pairing lunch at Myoga (highly recommended!), spent a day exploring my home town with a few of my favourite travel and lifestyle bloggers, took the kids out for some wintery fun at Snow World AND studied for my first set of exams (Grade 4!!!) in almost 20 years…. Plus we snuck off to Victoria Falls for a quick break (more on that soon)

I’ve also managed to pick up a bit of extra editing work. Great as I need any extra cash I can get right now, except it’s been rather poor timing. But, as other freelancers will know, you don’t say no! You make a plan. Which has meant some exceptionally late nights for me. Fortunately, I met the deadline and still managed to finish off my regular work BUT what this has meant is that this little blog has fallen to the very bottom of the pile. Sorry folks. I do hope the amazing competitions I’ve been running have kept you happy? I promise from here on out I’ll be a bit more active on these pages, well as far as time allows. I now go full on into planning our renovations and all the decisions that come with that. Exciting, yes, but exhausting too.

Speaking of renovations I’ll be sharing our renovation process occasionally over here on my blog, for myself to look back on, but also as inspiration (or warning) for those of you thinking of joining me on this journey! And if you’ve gone before me PLEASE do share your insider tips esp for good deals!! I’m keen to save wherever I can!

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!

  1. Sjoe one busy lady!!! Can’t believe you have haters you are such a sweet person and this blog is filled with so much positivity. Guess they truly are just jealous. Dying to hear more about your botox experience, I’m considering it myself but am so nervous.

    1. Hey Abby. Thanks for your comment. I suppose even Taylor Swift has haters so it’s bound to happen even to me đŸ˜‰
Will share about my Botox experience and thoughts soon. Promise!!

  2. Haters?! What?! It must be jealousy, because I don’t understand how anybody can leave a negative comment in such a happy place. People just suck sometimes I guess. Anyhoo, I’m green about the botox! Need some in my life too đŸ˜‰ Good luck with the renovations. Much love x

  3. Just ignore the haters dear Kathryn!! Not sure if you remember me but we worked shortly in the same office at NPG London – then I spent 3 beautiful years in Joburg and I LOVE reading your posts, which remember me of great times and make me want to go back and visit. Keep the great work going!! Greetings from Brussels, CornĂ©lie
