At the recent Mr Price Sport Blog Olympics I met Kate Nokwe – a sports blogger and journalist from Joburg. I decided to ask her to take part in my blogger interview series as I thought it would be a great idea to mix things up a bit from the usual beauty/ fashion/ lifestyle blogs I tend to feature in my “What I…” series. I hope you will enjoy finding out a bit more about Kate and her sports obsession here…
A lot of things, but if you insist on limited, I’ll share three 😉
Who and what I am is enough. I don’t have to play anybody but Kate to get anywhere. I am acceptable just as I am;
Your past may have a huge impact on you, but it doesn’t need to define or limit you.
And finally life owes you absolutely nothing
I love Christ.
I’m passionate about sport and sport media – I often joke that sport is a prerequisite for any Eastern Cape child. It’s an unwritten compulsory ‘subject’ in our upbringing.
I raise the Liverpool flag every season and in between. The Blue Bulls, Kaizer Chiefs and Warriors have been a cause of many heartaches.
Spaniard Xabi Alonso is my favourite football player of all time. While Jonty Rhodes and Fourie du Preez are my cricket and rugby guys (respectively).
Life – I have an insane zeal for life. I don’t believe in going through the motions, life is meant to be lived, fully.
I have an incurable obsession with handstands. Seriously I see a surface and I’m upside down.
I like keeping fit. I play lots of sport, my friend recently introduced me to CrossFit, truly enjoying that.
Laughter. Radio. Bright colours. Gym clothes. Eminem and Bismark 😀
I’ve been terribly lately. I used to read a lot. I like crime books.
To travel. I went on my first overseas trip to Malaysia – Borneo Island – recently, and the bug hit massively. I can’t wait to explore more places. I want to start in Africa and make my way to Europe.
My dream is to work at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. I have been entertaining studying law, but the thought of assignments rattles me, so this may never happen
More than I care to admit I’m often asked ‘Kate, do you own anything else other than shorts?’ My response “Life’s too short to wear anything else”
Truth is I’m most comfortable in tracksuits, shorts, and sneakers. I grew up around boys, therefore wearing dresses is a pain as I haven’t mastered the ‘sit like a girl’ regulation. I’m a tomboy still learning to walk in heels. I do a bit of TV now and again, so I have to make an effort.
To call my mom more.
Let go a bit
Sleep more. I’m an insomniac that hasn’t had an 8 hour sleep in.. never.
Face my fear of heights.
