What I… Jen from Pinkerjen

So this week I’m interviewing the lovely Jen from Pinkerjen who I recently met at a launch. She blogs about all things beauty including makeup trends, product reviews and cosmetic news. Jen works in IT but has a passion for musical theatre (see the pics below of her in Guys & Dolls and Annie) Find out more about her here…

What I….

What it’s like to be in love. He’s the one. What living in England is like. How to read music and sing and play the piano. How to write a symphony. How to hear a piece of music and write it down. (I have a degree in classical music) How to rock a smokey eye. About musicals. How to time step. Ken Dodd, and because of this, how to dance in a fat suit. I will never be able to do the splits. Fathers love their children, even if they don’t talk to you or know how to make it right. How to keep a level head. How to not go there. How to make a proper pot of tea. How to bake a killer pudding. How to split a banana into three pieces LENGTHWAYS. How to take a selfie.

My boyfriend. My family. My dachshund and his crazy side kick. My friends. Couch days. Wine. Pasta. Sunshine. Cuddles. Heels. A great mascara. Pink. Wine. Pretty silly makeup things that I’ll probably never use. Scented candles. Reality shows. Did I say wine? Cape Town. The internet. Theatre. Singing. Dancing. A good dinner. Shopping alone. Road trips. Sharing special times with loved ones. Wine.

Blogs blogs and more blogs, silly. Buzzfeed articles (my daily guilty pleasure), the occasional magazine (although I’ve usually read it online before I’ve bought the mag), my favourite self help book, daily blessings, news and opinion pieces.

To be able to do what I love without compromise. People to see my work amongst the pile of beauty blogs out there and to think its special and different and worth a read. To find the perfect under eye concealer. To eat sour sweets and biscuits and burgers all my life and never have to worry about a wobbly bum. To stop procrastinating. To believe in what I do on those horrid days when you ask yourself “why?”. To make friends and keep them. To surround myself with people who lift me up. Shoes. Lots and lots of shoes. My freckles to fall off my face already. Everybody to be happy.

Jeans. All the time. And I seem to have an obsession with grey t shirts at the moment. Heck, anything muted. I love necklaces with a sense of humour. Heels and biker jackets and a handbag that days you’re a bit of a badass but still hold down a job and will give hugs in request. Mr Price online store whore over here. Also: makeup. All the time. Because it’s fun.

Support and cuddles. Space. Silence. Access to the internet. People to smile back and let me in, because I’m not very good at it. Biscuits every day of my life. My boyfriend Will. His hugs. His spaghetti bolognaise (yes need). To perform. To be on stage. For everyone to be quiet in the dressing room while I get ready. My mother’s love. Hugs from dad. To talk to every dog I meet. Tea at regular intervals. Everything that comes in pink. Structure, but like don’t tell me what to do because I’m a red head.

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
