Today I interview Robyn Cooke from Style Guide Cape Town. Aside from writing her fab fashion blog, Robyn is the Fashion editor of O, The Oprah Magazine as well as a stylist, writer, reviewer, commentator and fashion geek. Her blog is about championing the fashion industry, especially in Africa. I have certainly been educated in the world of fashion while visiting her blog – I especially love her posts on celeb style choices.
Here are her answers:
What I…
Know
I know that money isn’t the answer but it makes finding the answer a lot more fun, stylish and comfortable.
I know that my girl friends are the foundation on which my life is built.
I know that blue and black DO go together.
I know that travel is essential to becoming a fully-rounded human.
I know that laughter (especially at myself) can fix most things.
I know I am loved.
Love
I love my family and friends, of course.
I love my homes in De Waterkant and Stanford.
I love watching crime television on my PVR.
I love fashion.
I love technology.
I love when fashion and technology meet. Awesome.
PS: I also love Victoria Beckham.

Read
I read chick lit. Mostly.
And some crime fiction.
I read every Douglas Coupland novel published.
In other words, I read zeitgeist fiction.
I am not a reading snob. I have much expensive education. I can read what I
like.
Want
I want curtains for my holiday home.
I want to be stimulated and excited and energised by what I do every day.
I want food. Almost all the time. Mostly chocolate-related food.
I want to travel and shop and love and eat.
And dance and sing even though I can’t sing a note. But I do have moves.

Wear
I wear South African designed fashion as often as possible.
I wear Jimmy Choo shoes. Although I wear Supergas and Havianas on weekends.
I wear beautiful, expensive handbags that I have saved up for and sought out
for ages.
I wear them well.

Need
I need honesty, laughter and music.
I also need to meet and hang with Victoria Beckham but I am told you don’t
get everything you need in life. Whatevs.

Thank you Robyn for sharing your answers with us. I learn so much from your blog about fashion – I am a complete novice – so thank you for the service you provide!!

such a cool article – I love the way you have it laid out and that it really gives the person being interviewed an open letter so to speak. I have visited her blog a few times and am intrigued by it. Like you I am a total novice at fashion, as I do interiors. But blogs like hers definitely help.
Can’t believe all those chicks were wearing the same striped dress – wonder how they felt about that!!!!???
