What I…. Phillygirl from Glad to be a Girl

Today’s blogger interview is with Phillygirl from Glad to be a Girl – a long-time favourite South African blog which has won various awards – both national and international! Philly girl is originally from Cape Town, but has lived in Joburg since May 2004. She is “mom” to 3 bunnies and has more than a small dose of wanderlust which she satisfies with an awesome overseas trip every year to some of the most amazing places (last year was Russia and China as well as Botswana!!) She also features great book, film, restaurant and accommodation reviews and has recently bought her first home!

What I

I will survive. I’ve learnt that no matter how overwhelmed I feel or what life throws at me, it is human nature to pick up and carry on and survive. And there is nothing better than knowing you have amazing friends who will support you thru whatever ups and downs life delivers. I’ve definitely reached a point in my life where I know I have those kind of friends. It is an amazing feeling and I am grateful for all of them, and most importantly the ones who surprise you by being there exactly when you need it, whether you knew you did or not 😉

So many things – people, places and things! Haha. At the moment my boyf is a clear favourite. My current favourite thing is probably my house. Moved in at the beginning of November 2011 and am constantly adding little touches and new items of furniture to it, growing it into a true home. In fact, it really is my very own first true home of my own. And I definitely love it 🙂 And then, the obvious one is travel. So perhaps no one specific place. .. but more simply just the visiting of new places, the planning and anticipating and the actual holiday-ing is all a firm favourite for me!

I read a lot. And even more now that I live in a house with a bath again 😉 Haha. Nothing better than a relaxing bath in the evenings with my book. I don’t think I really have a specific genre I love, but I definitely lean towards the Black Cover books. Murder, Forensics and that sort of thing. But I am also a big fan of interesting stories, I like to think of it as Books that make you think different about things. You are least likely to find me reading a Romance / Mills&Boon type book.

Well, I think this is probably a little Cinderella, but I’m still waiting on the relationship-for-life and babies … I definitely want them and hope for both in my future, but as life has shown me, it can be a little unpredictable and not everything happens the way you plan it. Doesn’t stop you wanting it any less tho, does it?

Thanks so much Philly girl for taking part in my blogger interview series. It was a pleasure!

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
