Today in my “What I…” blogger interview series it is the turn of Natalie Roos from Tails of a Mermaid. I recently met Natalie in person at an event we both attended and after putting a face to the twitter handle thought it would be great to interview her in my series. Natalie is a girl of many talents – she has her own clothing brand, is a qualified make-up artist and has also presented a TV show on M-Net called JIP. She currently works in social media.
Here are her answers
I now know that nothing is ever forever. Just when you think “ah yes, this person/place/job/feeling is going to be mine forever”, life does one of those weird things it always does and changes everything. And then you’re starting all over again and its a new challenge and a new phase and a new growth spurt for your spirit.
I’m in a phase of superficial love right now. I love beer and wine and eating out and writing my blog and talking to my mom on the phone and living in my new apartment and taking pictures of trees and going to festivals and riding my awesome bicycle and the eggs benedict potato rosti from the Old Biscuit Mill on Saturday mornings and the thought of being a gypsy. And I love Cape Town. But the one thing I really truly love… is my ex boyfriend.
I work in Social Media, so I read a LOT of blogs. All blogs. From fashion to food to interior to parenting. And I read all kinds of books. I am part of an amazing book club, so every six weeks I get to choose from tons and tons of books.
A fairytale. I want that husband, family, home… one day. I am completely happy where I am right now, but that is what I look forward to having some day. I love looking after people, so while I don’t have a husband/children to look after, I really want a cat. And I also want a pair of shoes from Jeffrey Campbell.
I am the WORST when it comes to fashion. I don’t have any one specific “style” that I stick to. I love mixing it up. One thing I don’t wear, is expensive clothing. I’ve never seen the point. At the moment I am really into blazers and super-crazy-ridiculously-high stripper heels and wedges.
Probably not that much actually. I obviously “need” things like my BlackBerry and my car, but in reality, I probably only actually need a place to sleep, food to eat and my family.
Thanks Natalie for taking the time to answer these questions. Great to get to know you a little bit more and do hope you get that fairytale one day!
