What I….. Kimberoo from The Good Girls Guide

The latest lovely blogger in my “What I….” series is Kimberoo. This busy lady writes 2 different blogs and works in the industry too! She is a self-confessed geek who loves all things social media, blogging, writing and the internet 🙂

You can find her on the web at The Good Girls Guide and Tweet as well as follow her on Twitter @kimberoo.

What I…..

I know that celebrity buzz is the biggest money spinner out there, yet fall blissfully in its wake as a cheerful victim of reality TV, celeb voyeur blogs and Heat magazine. I also know better, and try hard to not be in that category too often! I know that Life is what you make of it and who you Entrust it to, whether or not that includes a daily dose of Top 10s. I know that my husband is just perfect for me in the way God made us click, that my parents have given me life’s best blessings and teachings, that friends and community trumps ‘being seen’ at Caprice, and that the best [fun] things in life are travel, wine, coffee, good food, early scenic mornings, conquering Smitswinkel on your bike, a great new outfit and a happy admin-free Saturday morning.

I love the fact that ‘love’ is such a big word. In English it’s painfully limited however. We love peanut butter and chocolate like we love our families or husbands or children. We love
watching the Stormers win like we love to give and serve others. We love Masterchef Australia like we love providing a meal for others. And so on. The good thing is that the ancient Greek (I think) had a few versions of LOVE. Eros, Storge, Phileo and Agape – the Lord’s sacrificial ‘other-centred’ Love. This is the love I aspire to give, and hope to receive from others, but KNOW I receive it from God. And it’s big sharing, caring, inspiring, make-me-better, growing love that is above all, other-centred.

Gosh. I read almost everything. I’m an utter bookworm (my husband will agree ruefully and my bookclub will nod in exasperated unbelief that I’ve finished two 800 pagers since the last time we met). I read the entire Bobbsey Twins (remember them?) and Nancy Drew series in Sub B, and regularly went to the library 3 times a week as a kid. These days I read mostly fiction (not one for self-help or non-fiction) and voraciously. I often re-read books or series just because I love the stories (cue Harry Potter, Twilight, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Pillars of the Earth) and am always first in line at a book sale :):) At the moment I’m waiting for the next big one to strike me. I highly recommend Shantaram, The Girl series, anything by Ken Follett, Shades of Grey (extremely mind-bending and quirky), The Host and Rules of the Wild (gorgeous African tale of romance and nostalgia).

I want to have a successful online/blogging/writing/social media/e-marketing business one day that will allow me to be a part-time worker and stay-at-home mom. But we’ll see where we go :):) I want people to stop being racist and degrading in online forums and hiding behind anonymity, I want our country to grow in strength and democracy and transparency and accountability, I want Jesus to rock the heart and soul of everyone I know, and I secretly want to be my very own Masterchef, own an incredible coffee machine, skydive without the nerves, a wardrobe like Khloe Kardashian and clip-in hair extensions.

I wear anything that takes my fancy, especially awesome jeans! I love following trends online and in magazines, but I’ll often take a look and twist it to make it my own. I love wearing pretty dresses to weddings, well fitted clothes, a good pair of boots, long dangly earrings, lots of scarves and great underwear!

I need coffee in the morning! But I also need to write more, blog more, exercise more, dream more, give more, sacrifice more, smile more, laugh more, love abundantly and live life in the moment, victoriously :):)

Thanks so much Kimberoo for sharing a few insights into your life… Loved all your answers, we seem to have a lot in common! I am totally with you on being first in line for a book sale but can’t claim to have read even one 800 page book (yet), most of mine just make my bookshelves look pretty 😉

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
