H&M South Africa is almost here!

About 3 or 4 years ago I first heard that H&M would be opening a shop in South Africa and at the time 2015 seemed YEARS away and so very long to wait until I could finally shop at my favourite high street store right here in Cape Town… and now it is finally here!

Yes H&M is opening its first store in Cape Town in October 2015 at the V&A Waterfront (the exact opening date will be confirmed closer to the time!) And it’s set to be a goodie! The store will be one of the largest in the world at over 4700 square metres! This will be the flagship H&M store in South Africa so you can expect two floors of gorgeous, affordable fashion.

“We are very happy to finally open our first store in South Africa and bring our future customers what H&M is known for the world over – fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way”
Pär Darj, Country Manager for H&M South Africa

I was lucky enough to be invited along to the press preview of the H&M offerings that will be hitting our shores come October.

Scroll down a sneak peek of what you can expect to see on the rails come October…

The store will open with the highly anticipated H&M Studio collection for women that fuses modern eclectic with a classic twist.

Bold prints take centre stage in earthy, authentic tones. Colours you can expect are rust red, pumpkin, burgundy, dark green, camel, grey melange, black, off-white, gold and paprika.

Fabrics that make an appearance are wool, lurex, nylon, leather, suede, faux fur and silk. Silhouettes are playful with exaggerated curves and the collection sees the introduction of oversized shapes worn with neat and nipped pieces.

There seems to be a lot of seventies influence and key pieces in the collection will be:
Zip-up quilted coats, rollneck sweaters, flared pants, asymmetric blouses, wool skirts and dungarees.
