Film Review: Frozen 2 (plus WIN a Frozen 2 hamper)

This much anticipated sequel to the ever popular Frozen animated movie proved to be a huge hit with our movie critics- all under age 10! In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2” she must hope they are enough.

The story line takes the path of answering the question, ‘Why was Elsa born with magical powers?’ The answer to this is shrouded in mystery as a ‘voice’ begins to call her and threaten her kingdom. The journey that ensues is filled with adventure, new exciting fantastical characters full of personality and plenty of light hearted humorous scenes to enjoy alongside some intense action moments! Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey together.

There are some really lovely heart-warming moments as these sisters come to new places of sacrifice, acceptance and work together to achieve the impossible.

Our movie critics chatted the entire way home! They recalled the scenes with animated voices and laughing over the crazy antics of much loved Olaf and the delightfully dopey Sven. One new character that crept into their hearts was a little lizard- one to watch out for!

There are some big wonderful musical moments and these provide a really enjoyable movie experience and yes, we had solo renditions of these in the car on the way home too! I mean who can’t relate to the lyrics, “Do the next right thing, I will do the next right thing!” and enjoy an 80’s inspired ballad “Lost in the woods”. There are some very powerful scenes which are great talking points for older children on themes such as dealing with feeling overwhelmed and how to handle disappointment. The movie also provides an excellent opportunity to discuss indigenous people groups. Other themes include: sisterhood, empowerment, love, facing challenges and acceptance.

The animation is outstanding quality and the scenery breath-taking. We loved the autumn forest, snow scenery and the characters outfits are beautifully designed too!

We really loved the story line and like any truly excellent Fairy Tale the conclusion was delightful! We will let you go and watch it to find out more for yourself!
