Esse skincare products review

If, like me, you’ve been on the hunt for a range of natural and organic skincare products to use in your beauty regime then I’m sure you would have come across Esse. If not, let me introduce them to you!

Esse is a range of natural and organic products created for people who prefer not to use chemicals to improve the skin’s condition.   They believes that nature offers all the active ingredients needed for cleansing, toning, healing, uplifting, smoothing and protecting the skin.

The range consists of cleansers, toners, moisturisers, masks, serums, oils and creams all filled with natural plants ingredients and filled with amazing free-radical protection. When manufacturing Esse, a unique system of natural preservation is used making the products free from artificial preservatives, parabens, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrance and colourants which is amazing.

The entire Esse range is biodegradeble and is manufactured in South African and is organically certified by Ecocert of France. They also support Phytotrade and the Fair Trade movement which ensures the ingredients and raw materials used are sourced and purchased from local co-operatives to uplift and empower rural communities as well as being accredited by Beauty without Cruelty and endorsed by the Vegan Society.

I recently tried out a selection of Esse products and here are some of my thoughts…

Cocoa Exfoliator
This organic exfoliator is made of small cocoa particles that smells (and looks) just like chocolate! What’s not to love? I used this on my face (be warned it is a dark brown colour) but found that physical exfoliators don’t always agree with my sensitive facial skin. This exfoliator also causes your skin to warm up which is not ideal if you suffer from Rosacea like I do as heat will always make the redness worse – but is great for circulation and will leave you glowing. I started to use this on other areas of my body especially rough patches like my elbows, knees and upper thighs and it does leave your skin feeling super smooth and nourished. This is a product you will likely only use once or twice during an extra pamper time so the little glass jar will last a while.

essecleanser

Gel Cleanser
This gel cleanser from Esse is great for summertime – it is super refreshing and leaves you feeling wide awake and ready for the day (and it’s peppermint scent smells amazing too) The deep-cleansing gel wash is perfect for those prone to acne or with oily skin as the all-natural combination of peppermint and spearmint oils leave skin refreshed and help improve micro-circulation which rids skin of excess sebum and blemish-causing toxins. I used it twice a day (even to remove makeup) and although some gel cleansers leave my skin feeling very dry, this one was not one of them. That being said I would be interested to try out their cream cleanser next time to compare the two as I think as I am getting older, my more mature skin needs all the moisture it can get! This product was also a big hit with my husband… I know because it finished MUCH faster than I was expecting! A great option for men who are looking for a cleanser that isn’t too feminine.

essetoner

Toner

I loved using this product – which is surprising as it’s not usually a step in my beauty routine! The toner spray was light and fresh and I loved using it throughout the day (yes, over makeup) when I was feeling a bit sticky or in need of freshening up. This gentle toner completes the cleansing process by revitalising, protecting and improving skin texture and is filled with natural ingredients like rooibos extract (a powerful antioxidant) and olive leaf extract (which protects skin from pollution and sun damage).

Omega Light Moisturiser

The moisturiser comes in a set of 5 little pots that are kept in the fridge until opened, after which they last for approx 2 weeks due to the lack of preservatives. I used this as a day moisturiser and loved the light-weight cream that was quickly absorbed and left my skin feeling soft and supple. This moisturiser is rich in antioxidants that protect against environmental damage. Manketti oil provides UV protection and spearmint decongests by encouraging micro-circulation and elimination of toxins. Previously I have tried the Deep Moisturiser which was much thicker and more suited to dry, dehydrated or mature skins whereas this product would be great for younger skins and those with combination or oily skins.

esseeyecream

Eye & Lip Cream

I have yet to add this product into my daily regime but from what I hear it is a great option for those starting to see the appearance of fine lines around the mouth and eye area. Packed with antioxidants like Grape Seed and Rooibos Extract, this eye and lip treatment is designed to slow down the ageing process. It also contains high levels of Hyaluronic Acid that hydrates and plumps the skin making it look and feel more youthful. The way to use it is to lightly tap a small bead of cream onto your lips and the skin around the eyes twice a day before moisturising. And yes, I’m going to start using it tonight!

I have previously made mention of the Esse Repair Oil. You can read my thoughts here.

Esse is for people that want effective, healthy and natural products that will protect their skin as much as their environment while giving them real results. Their range includes products for a wide range of conditions from anti-ageing, sensitivity, oiliness, acne, pigmentation, dryness and more.

Esse products are available to purchase via various salons, spas and health shops as well as at Wellness Warehouse and online via Rubybox

  2. I recently bought the esse gel cleanser, toner, light mosturiser, cocoa exfoliator and clay masque. The smell is so fresh, earthy and exotic. I love the packaging too. Love how the gel foams, how refreshing the toner is and the mosturiser keeps my face matte and oil free all day (no mosturiser has done that for me before). I’m gonna start the exfoliatorand masque soon cause I had to wait after taking oratane. I love esse.
