Spa Review: Equinox Spa experience at Cape Royale

The 3-week long winter school holidays are finally over! Initially I am always quite pleased to see the holidays arrive. It means less mad mornings, no lunch boxes to make or children to remind repeatedly to get dressed. I enjoy planning a few play dates and outings for each week and do look forward to spending more time than usual with my kids. But, as the days drag on, the “quality time” becomes less so and I start to feel more like a nanny/ maid/ children’s entertainment provider with each passing day. By the end of the holiday I am ready to shut myself away in a dark room and not speak to anyone for a while! So that is exactly what I did! I took myself off to The Cape Royale’s Equinox Spa for a full-body massage! Don’t mind if I do 😉

Early one evening last week I headed off, full of anticipation, to the world-class Equinox Spa, leaving my husband to man the “crazy hour” at home. I arrived and was escorted to a glamorous changing room where I was shown my robe and slippers and given the keys to a locker in which to store my valuables. My first impression of the spa was that the facilities were very luxurious and I felt like very spoilt just being in the bathroom! It was fit for a celebrity!

Once I arrived at my treatment room all that loud, overstimulating children’s entertainment was quickly banished from my mind as I entered the candlelit room and slid beneath the heated towels and drifted off to my happy place. The massage therapist was suitably calming and kept conversation to a minimum which I was very grateful for. Silence is not to be underestimated. The massage was amazing. The massage oil used in my massage was a unique candle oil and the smell was heavenly. My favourite is usually the head massage but I have now discovered something even better – a face massage! WOW. What a wonderful way to revive my tired body and rest my weary brain!

My stressed senses were only too pleased to have this chance to reset themselves. The experience of the amazing smell, touch, warmth and quiet were just what this mom needed, but mostly I relished the time alone!

I can highly recommend that all women, esp moms who’ve been working the full time job that is “keeping kids happy in the holidays”, take some time out to pamper yourself. You will not regret it (and I’m sure neither will your husband and kids when you return home a new, relaxed person!)

Equinox Spa offers a variety of options to choose from including body care, hand and foot care, massages, grooming and spa packages. The Equinox team can also tailor-make packages for special occasions such as hen nights, birthday or bridal parties.
