What I… Eleanor from Just Ella Bella

There are so many undiscovered South African blogs out there just waiting for an audience to find them. That is one of the reasons why I started this What I… series way back in 2011 (yes, it’s been that long!) I love discovering new bloggers and giving them a small piece of my platform to help them get a bit more recognition…

Today’s What I… blogger interview is with Eleanor from Just Ella Bella. She calls herself a crafty mom who blogs about DIY, parenting, natural hair care, fashion, food and fun. During the day she works in the media industry doing layout and freelance writing and at night she creates custom kids accessories and gifts. Sounds like a busy life!

What I…

Life is ridiculously short, in the last four years I have lost a son, my Godmother, my father in law and five good friends. I’ve also very nearly lost my life and watched my dad pull himself through an operation that almost ended in tragedy. This has changed me as a person. I now believe in finding happiness in today because who knows what tomorrow brings.
The people I share my life with. I grew up quite lonely, but more recently I realised that I am really lucky! My parents support me (even though they don’t always get me), my husband is my rock, my son lights up my life and my friends and cousins are amazing. I am literally a whatsapp away from someone willing to drop everything and be there for me. It fills my heart with so much joy knowing that I have the support system I have, because I know not every one is this lucky.
BLOG POSTS! As a blogger I am often on other peoples blogs. I am also a freelance journalist so I’m constantly researching, but when I get to read a book  for the sake of reading I gravitate to the classics and anything with a humorous undertone. Marian Keyes is great for an intelligent laugh (is there such a thing?).
To make a difference in some small way. When I leave this earth I want people to think of me and smile and remember me as someone who at the very least tried her best. I also want to raise a child who is happy, knows that he is extremely loved and realises that he has a responsibility to humanity to not be a jerk.
I work from home Mondays and Tuesdays and that is when you will find me in sneakers or pumps. During my “at home” days I can be found in hoodies, jeans and if I don’t have to see anyone I will gladly hang around in a onesie. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I am office bound in heels and dresses and I will even put some lipstick on. I am super comfortable in both looks because clothes are fun (unless I’m feeling bleugh, then clothes suck and I have nothing to wear ever in my life ever!)
To learn to switch off and relax. I am a chronic multi-tasker and it can be super exhausting. I also need to learn how to cut myself some slack. Whether it’s body issues, work issues or friend and family issues I can be a bit of a self bully at times.

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
