When it comes to my hair I have always taken the quickest and easiest route – I’m not one to use a whole host of hair products or spend hours styling my hair which is possibly to my detriment as having good or bad hair can really make or break how you feel about yourself and therefore affect your day, your emotions and how you interact with others!
Recently I’ve been paying a bit more attention to this neglected area and decided I needed to be more intentional about what I was putting on my hair and what I was doing with it. I started using an organic range of hair products for a few months and although I really believe in the concept of going chemical-free I struggled with wild, out-of-control, dry frizzy hair. It wasn’t pretty! In desperation I picked up a bottle of Dove shampoo while on holiday and discovered the difference after one use. And shortly after that I was given the opportunity to sample and review a new range of Dove Hair Care Products. What perfect timing!
The Dove Intensive Hair Repair Range claims to be able to repair proteins in your hair at a cellular level using the “Keratin Repair Actives” that absorb into Keratin already present in your hair. Since I started using the products a few weeks ago I have been pleasantly surprised at the results.
The Dove Intense Hair Repair range has been formulated for use in damaged and dry hair and they aim to give you lustrous locks without the residue. The products I sampled were the Intensive Repair Shampoo, Intensive Repair Conditioner, Intensive Repair Daily Super Conditioner and the Intense Repair Mask.
After using the Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner (200ml, R36.99 each) I found my hair to be light and soft. I found these products supplied moisture to my hair without making it heavy. The products claim to prevent split ends which I definitely need!! My hair was left feeling and looking strong, shiny and healthy and after a quick blow dry my hair definitely looked sleeker and was easier to manage.
I also tried an alternative Conditioner called the Dove Intensive Repair Daily Super Conditioner (180ml, R 55.99) which I found to be a richer alternative and which I really enjoyed. My hair lapped up the extra moisture and I preferred this option as a daily conditioner.
The Dove Intense Repair Mask (200ml, R52.99) protects your hair from damage caused due to excessive styling and exposure to chemicals and can restore up to 1 week of protein loss to make your hair super soft and smooth. It’s best to use a hair mask BEFORE shampooing your hair. This mask is really quick and easy to use as it only needs to be applied for 3 mins once a week!
Dove is guaranteeing customers their money back if they cannot see any results after using the Intense Hair Repair range of products. Keep your eyes out for the Dove promotion happening at your local Spar, Pick n Pay, Dis-chem, Clicks or Checkers Hyper stores on weekends in July and August.
