What I… Dimi from StyleScoop

On my recent jaunt to Durban I was fortunate enough to meet a few of the familiar faces behind some of the blogs I have followed for a few years – one of which was Dimi from StyleScoop… although at our meeting we were both dressed in neon lycra and not stylish stilettos as is usually the case when meeting fashion bloggers! Dimi has been the voice behind her blog for 5 years and has established herself as a leading light in the SA blogsphere so it was great to meet her, albeit briefly (remember we were on competing teams at the Blog Olympics – me = CT, Dimi = Durban – and the rivalry was intense!!) Anyway what I did get to know about her made me want to find out more so I am so pleased she agreed to feature in this week’s “What I…” interview! Take it away Dimi…

What I….

That in life, you have to work for everything you want. Nothing comes easy and if it did everyone would have everything their heart desires. There is also nothing more satisfying than working towards something and achieving your goals!

My gorgeous hubby who is my best friend, confidant and my biggest supporter.
My family who make everything better just by knowing they are there.
My furry-kids who take over my life and my household, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My perfect pair of nude Christian Louboutin “Bianca” pumps. I had longed for a pair of these red soled heels for about eight years and my dreams finally came true this year (thanks to J.C Le Roux and my baking skills).
My closet room, which has come a long way since I first blogged about it. Can you believe the idea of turning one of our spare bedrooms in our house into a closet was my husbands idea? The man knows and understands me so well!

I am hooked on fashion blogs and spend hours reading them on my iPad before bed. When it comes to literature, my interests are quite varied. I love Chick-Lit books to take with on holiday and I really love stories that are based on real life people/ events, that enable you to paint a picture of life in that time. Right now I’m reading The Paris Wife – A novel based on Hadley Richardson, (who was Ernest Hemingway’s first wife) and their short but intense love life.

My all time favourite author is Sidney Sheldon. Every one of his books I’ve read, I just can’t seem to put it down!

Where do I start? Being exposed to all the fabulous things out there, I want everything I see! I have my heart set on a gorgeous Fendi bag that I wished I had bought in Dubai (but didn’t).

I used to buy clothes just for the sake of having loads of different “things”, but the more I grow up and fine tune my style, I find myself taking my time in choosing clothes and my focus has changed from wanting to have everything, to rather having fewer pieces that I really love and wear. Fabric is also very important to me, as well as fit, versatility and owning items that are classic and will see me through many seasons.

Although my style is very casual, I love to experiment with different looks and outfits and try to wear what I already have in my wardrobe as much as possible. I’m a total denim junkie and most of the time, I practically live in my jeans.

You will almost always see me donning loads of arm candy. I have an obsession with interesting bracelets that I love to stack to create different looks. Right now I am loving my X By Trollbeads bracelet – it’s my fave!

To find a way to have more “me time” but still be able to do everything that I need to do. With blogging and work, combined with all the other responsibilities that come with adult life, it’s often difficult to find time for yourself!

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
