Fantastic fabrics at Constantia Fabrics

A few weeks ago I was invited to 2 very lovely creative events in 2 days…. it was such a treat to be surrounded by inspiring, creative people and I decided that I really do need to tap into my latent creativity somehow…

As luck would have it the second event I attended was at Constantia Fabrics and after a tour of the gorgeous space by owner/ manager, Saleh Abrahams, and a brief history of how he fell into the family trade, we got to get our own hands “dirty”…

We were invited to explore our creative side by designing our very own fabric, with the potential for the best one to potentially be turned into a fabric and offered for sale on their shelves!! Firstly Saleh explained the creative process and then his printer told us a bit more about the process involved in getting the design onto the fabric and into the shop! And then we got stuck in taking inspiration from various pictures and patterns we brought with us.

Here are a few pics of the morning…

I had such a lovely morning with Saleh and his team at Constantia Fabrics. Their range of curtaining & upholstery fabrics is amazing and there is something for everyone and every taste.

I loved that all the designs were arranged by colour making it even easier to select a fabric you love and one that will work in your space at home. What also impressed me at Constantia Fabrics is that about 80% of the stock on the floor are their unique designs! If you’re in the market for new fabric, be it a small once off project or a whole home makeover I encourage you to pop in!

In the meantime, I am excited to find out who the winner of the competition is! I so enjoyed the process of pushing through the awkward “I can’t do this” phase, to the more confident “Go with the creative flow” phase!! Here’s hoping my “Cape Gooseberry” design is selected as the winnine one! Who knows… it may be the start of a whole new creative calling for me!

If you’re in the market for some fabric, be it for upholstery or curtaining, I highly recommend popping in at the beautiful Constantia Fabrics showroom. They stock amazing fabrics from around the world including soft linens, luxurious velvets, crisp cottons and outdoor canvas all at great prices!
