Today I’m interviewing Cherice (otherwise known as Reesy), a lifestyle, fashion and beauty blogger from Joburg who writes over at Glam Hipster Diaries
Thoughts become things. Through spending a lot of my time alone, focusing on introspection and nurturing self-love I’ve realized how powerful thoughts and words can be. As cliché’ as it may sound, your mindset truly does affect your daily life. I know that you get out from the world, what you put out into it. Life is a journey of constant learning, unlearning and relearning and with that comes challenges. Whenever life throws me off I try my best to focus on the positive side of things which is something that inspired my tattoo that reads “Never a failure, always a lesson”.
Fashion, beauty, food, traveling, writing and cocktails of course, who doesn’t love a good cocktail? Through blogging I’m able to merge my love for writing and connecting with others, with my love for all things glam. Outside of blogging, I love exercising although it may not look like it because I love food a little too much lol. I’ve recently taken up pole fitness which took a lot of courage for me to jump into but I’m enjoying challenging my body. I also love being able to see and contribute towards the growth of a brand. This has led me to study and pursue a career in communications.
The commonly dreaded self-help book and autobiography. I struggle to get past the first few pages of any type of fictional books so I’m naturally drawn into factual writing. I enjoy reading about real people doing real things, as well as being able to learn valuable lessons that I can apply to business and relationships. One of my favourite authors is Anthony Robbins (Unlimited Power). I also enjoy reading fashion, beauty, lifestyle and travel magazines and blogs.
Happiness, freedom to travel the world and build a career while doing it (not the traditional 9 to 5). I want to be able to travel the world, photograph and blog about the treasures I find along the way as well as work remotely in content curation or social media management. Freedom and success in my career are at the core my happiness and in fulfilling this, I would also be able to give my family everything they’ve given me and more.
I wear what best suits my body type. I wear a lot of loose fitting tops, tight bottoms and black is always a staple in my wardrobe. One of my favourite trends right now is the off-the-shoulder look so I’ve been wearing a lot of these tops and dresses. A bonus is that I get to show off my shoulder tattoo. When it comes to shoes I mostly wear flats because comfort is key, but I do love a solid heel for a more glam look.
To be consistent in all that I do. One of my biggest challenges is staying consistent. I often get distracted by the daily ‘ins and outs’ of life and then moments of inspiration become few and far between. This is one of the things I’m working on improving.
