Chanel Couture Spring 2012

While visiting Chanel’s website yesterday looking for images of Coco Chanel for my previous post on her Parsienne Apartment, I came across this striking set design for the latest Chanel Haute Couture Collection – Spring 2012.

Karl Lagerfeld latest creative fashion show location was made to look like the inside of an aeroplane. The Grand Palais in Paris was transformed into a ‘private jet’ complete with numbered seating, floor level lighting and cock pit! Talk about elaborate.

The “passengers” included actresses Cameron Diaz, Diane Kruger, Elizabeth Olsen and singer Vanessa Paradis.

The Spring/Summer 2012 line featured longer length hemlines than usual, in shades of blue and monochrome. Designs were all about texture – sequins, jewels and rouche detailing – offset by punk hair and drop-waists.
