Build-a-Bear competition

Last Saturday myself and my kids were invited to the opening of the NEW Build-a-Bear Workshop in Tygervalley Shopping Mall in Durbanville. And what fun we had! The Build-a-Bear experience was just what it promised to be – unforgettable.

My kids had not been treated to a Build-a-Bear before so were in awe of the process – including choosing their own bear, deciding on a sound and filling it with fluff and a special red heart! Selecting the outfit and accessories proved to be a big hit – even my 6 year old son got super excited by the process and selected a very masculine camo bear with a variety of trendy accessories including Skechers shoes and a skateboard!

Build-A-Bear Workshop has outlets in Johannesburg (Sandton City and Eastgate Mall), Durban (Gateway Shopping Centre) and Cape Town (Somerset Mall, Canal Walk and now Tyger Valley Centre) Nearly everyone, regardless of age, has a special fondness for stuffed animals and at Build-a-Bear you can choose from over 30 stuffed animals to make, including bears, dogs, cats, bunnies, monkeys and a series of Beary Limited edition Collectibear animals. My daughter selected the Minnie Mouse and decked her out in the sparkliest of red dresses and high heels – perfect for Christmas Eve dinner! (I know for sure what type of party this little girl will be wanting in April – a Pawsome Party where each guest gets to select their own Build-a-Bear!)

There is something very special about creating your own soft toy friend. They definitely have found a special place in my kid’s lives and our new family members have not been left out of any activity since, including trips to school, a weekend away and even swimming lessons… They have been given so much love in the past week alone and I’m sure there will be much more for years to come! After our wonderful experience I am a firm Build-a-Bear fan and believe that no child should be without a Build-a-Bear and no Build-a-Bear should be without a child’s love!

So in the spirit of Christmas Giving I am pleased to announce that 2 lucky readers have the chance to win a R250 gift voucher to spend at any Build-a-Bear Workshop in South Africa.

One would go in the coral rosette dress and the other in the ballerina dress.

  17. I have been absolutely dying to take my kids to Build-A-Bear!! I’m a bit of a bear “traditionalist” and would probably choose someone simple like Bearemy but would kit him out with something funky like the Capt America outfit!!!

  18. Heehee – I don’t think I can resist the Grinch. He strikes the perfect balance between quirky character and cuddlability. Naturally, I’d have to dress him in a tutu, and give him a spot on the mantle! 😀

  24. I would buy Sid (from Ice age), my daughter loves him because of his goofyness, and it would be wonderful to give it to her for christmas. She would absolutely love this.
