If you’ve popped in here this January you will have noticed that I’ve launched a new series for my blog…. it’s called Blogs Bloggers Read
The idea behind it is to answer the question I’ve often asked: “what blogs do other bloggers read”
All bloggers start out as blog readers… but along their blogging journey the time it takes to run a blog sucks away from the time they used to spend reading blogs. Sad but true in my instance… and I’m sure I’m not alone!
So I’ve asked some of my favourite South African bloggers to share their favourite blogs – local or international – which they read on a regular basis to get an insight into which ones still capture their attention, time and heart!
Melissa from Melissa Louise shares her faves today…
I am a picture person and will 90% of the time look through a post without reading a single word – I love being told stories with beautiful photos. I find blogs that are text heavy to be boring. Another thing that is important and keeps me going back to a blog is original content, I don’t see the point of re-creating your pin boards as blog posts….
Emily Henderson
http://stylebyemilyhenderson.com
I adored Emily Henderson from day one, like before she was famous, I watched her on HGTV’s Design Star (One of my fave design shows) which she went on to win. Her blog and Interior design business has evolved so much since then. I am obsessed with her design style, the beautiful spaces she creates and I love her humour and the way she writes.
Sugar & Cloth

Ashley’s blog is light, bright and full of colour. I simply love her photography style and how beautiful every single post is. A great reference for DIY inspiration or quick and fun recipes. I also love that she gives honest business/creative advice.
Emmajanenation
www.emmajanenation.com and www.ladandlass.co.za
Emma is a dear friend of mine, and her blog is one of the few local blogs I frequent. I love the adventures Emma takes me on, whether its local or international destinations. Her videos and beautiful photography have a way of capturing the pure essence of the city, restaurant or wedding her and Dylan are photographing. If ever I am looking for a new and exciting place to eat or get away spot for a weekend escape ill hop over to EJN.
The Pretty Blog
www.theprettyblog.com
Also a long-time favourite, The Pretty Blog are really strong in every category and is generally my go to for printables, styling inspiration and their vendor directory. Again being a picture person I can get lost in their archive for hours.
Thanks Melissa! What beautiful blogs you have chosen as your faves. Love these all!
