This is the place where you will find the more practical blog information about Becoming you such as our PR and Advertising information, Legal info and our Guest Posts and Comments policies. See below for more details…
I am grateful for every opportunity that comes my way due to this blog. Please note that to avoid putting myself in a position where I start to resent my blog I have decided to follow these guidelines:
I would love to hear from you if you are a Public Relations Company or Business Owner and interested in doing business together. I love supporting South African brands and businesses especially new small businesses and those run by women and moms like myself!
Please e-mail me if you would like to publicize an event, host a giveaway or competition, introduce your company or product, request a product review, feature my blog in your magazine or blog or enquire about advertising rates.
Becoming you offers a variety of advertising spaces to all brands that are in line with Becoming you’s brand. For more information on my stats, advertising and promotional post rates please contact me for a Media Kit on kathryn (at) becomingyou.co.za or use the form below.
I also accept and keep free products, services, travel, event tickets, and other forms of compensation from companies and organizations. All advertising, reviews and PR opportunities should be in line with Becoming you’s brand (and my personal ethos) and I will use my discretion about which opportunities I am willing to promote and participate in. Becoming you does not contain any content which might present a conflict of interest.
Becoming you abides by word of mouth marketing standards – honesty of relationship, opinion and identity. Even though the author may receive compensation for posts or advertisements – honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on those topics or products are always expressed. The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely the authors own. The compensation received may influence the advertising content, topics or posts made in this blog. However, when compensation has occurred, that content or post will be clearly identified as paid or sponsored. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question. Becoming you is not responsible if you do not like a product that we recommend. Guest authors and commenters are not compensated to provide opinion on products, services, websites and various other topics.
If you are interested in having your product, website, or service reviewed, or to advertise on Becoming you, please email me – Kathryn – for a Media Kit on info (at) becomingyou (dot) co (dot) za or use the form at the end of this page.
I love being invited to events and try to make a effort to attend all events I am invited to as long as they will be interesting to me and / or my readers. If I do attend a blog post will be at my own discretion and is not guaranteed. This is mostly determined by how interesting it will be for my readers to read about.
I am more than happy to test products for myself, my home or my family, however, due to the fact that this blog is not essentially a product review blog and the sheer volume of requests I receive I cannot guarantee a blog post for every item I am sent. Of course if I love the product I will definitely write a post. Alternative ways I might make mention of your product is via a photo or mention on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. I try to mention each product I receive to review on one of these platforms. If I do a post about it I will disclose that it was a gift.
I am open to visiting restaurants, spas, hotels and guesthouses, ideally in the greater Cape Town area. Please note a review on my blog will be honest, unbiased and based on my personal experience. I will also disclose that I was invited to enjoy the experience as a guest and did not pay for it. Click here to view some of the reviews I have published.
Comments are a huge part of blogging and I am not unlike every other blogger out there who loves to receive comments on my blog. They truly do make me day – most of the time!
After doing some reading over at a few other blogs I noticed that some bloggers make a point of stating their stance on comments just to put it out there and make things transparent for their readers and manage expectations!
Every blogger does things differently when it come to comments, some reply to each and every comment on the blog post, others reply via email, some don’t even allow comments – each to their own. There are no rules. But here are my thoughts:
I love receiving comments and I like it even better when there are a few comments about the same post and my readers start to interact so I prefer to reply to comments on the actual blog post. Now I realize a lot of readers don’t always remember where they leave comments and where to go back to but this is my preferred method so if you are really interested in my reply please do make a note to come back.
I try to reply to all genuine comments that seem to require a personal response within 24 hours but I am only human and often this is not possible due to my “real” life commitments. Believe it or not I don’t spend every waking moment in front of my computer (mom!).
I would love to built up a community on this blog page so if you see a comment which you agree with or could answer with your own thoughts then please do share and discuss! I hope that over time this site will grow to become a place of encouragement and inspiration for women and for you to start to engage with each as real friends would.
If you are interested in a more personal response or have a private matter to discuss please feel free to get hold of me via the Contact page and I will respond as soon as possible. Bear in mind though that I do receive quite a number of emails daily and as I get busier (yay!) I won’t be able to personally reply as quickly… I hope you will understand.
Obviously Becoming you is my personal place on the Internet and as such I reserve the right to delete any comments that I find offensive or hateful towards myself or my readers.
I am open to receiving guest submissions as long as they fall in line with the Becoming you brand and ethos!
If you would like to submit a post, please consider the following:
All posts need to be original content and should not have appeared on your blog previously.
Each submission should have a minimum of 2 pictures (preferably your own), if more are submitted I have the right to choose which ones to use (max 640px wide)
