Beauty Review: Sisley Make up

Sisley Paris is renowned for skincare, but did you know that they extend their skincare offering into their colour range as well?

Their belief is that skin is in contact with make-up all day long, so to preserve hydration and comfort it’s important to create a make-up line based on skin care expertise!

To combine the delight of colour with the benefit of skincare…

Founded in 1976 by Hubert d’Ornano, who has headed the Sisley brand for over thirty years, Sisley products are developed by using natural plant extracts and botanical aromatic essential oils.

I’ve recently been playing with a few of their make-up products, namely the Phyto-Eye Twist, the Phyto-Lip Twist and Phyto-Blush Twist. These three products all come in super fun packaging with black and white animal print stripes…

Sisley Phyto-Eye Twist (R607)

The Phyto-Eye Twist is an all-in-one eye make-up solution: an eye shadow + an eye pencil + an eyeliner. The “jumbo” tip blends and glides to colour the eyelids, easily applying graphic make-up or drawing an XXL line.

The skincare formula is enriched with plant-based active ingredients (Green Tea, White Lily, Camellia) and protects the delicate skin of the eyelids.

The gliding, ultra-sensory, waterproof texture allows an ultra-easy application and a flawless finish that lasts all day long. Avail in xx magnetic shades this is both a fun and practical product that’s easy to apply on the go. Waterproof with no-transfer.

Application tips from the Sisley website

For a veil of colour: apply to eyelid then blend colour with fingertip.

For an intense look: directly apply colour to eyelid with the pencil.

For a graphic look: use the XXL eyeliner to accentuate the lash line.

Sisley Phyto-Blush Twist in Glow (R765)

Phyto-Blush Twist is a blush stick that adds a hint of colour to cheeks in a soft creamy formula that turns to powder upon contact with the skin to provide the benefits of both textures: the unique smoothing velvety finish of a powder in a long-lasting cream texture.

It is a fun twist up product with a rounded tip for easy and precise application, even without a mirror. Enriched with Camellia oil and Shea oil, it maintains skin hydration and delivers gorgeous radiance while still being Non-comedogenic.

I have been using the Glow version that is ideal for highlighting and gently illuminating the skin when used on the curved areas of the face.

Sisley Phyto-Lip Twist in Tango (R607)

Phyto-Lip Twist is a tinted balm with a matte finish this product leaves lips supple & smooth, even a little more shapely thanks to its cocktail of original plant-based active ingredients.

Its luminous, easy-to-wear shades match any occasion, from virtual nude to intense red – the one I’ve been trying out myself!

Then I’ve also been trying two of Sisley’s eyebrow make-up products…

Sisley Phyto Sourcils Design (R725)

This is a high-tech, multi-purpose eyebrow tool that provides colour to sparse brows, also delivers skincare and precision thanks to its 3-in-1 pencil specially designed to give professional make-up results in three steps.

Bringing together a mini brush, a triangular pencil tip and a highlighter, this clever product can be used to:

  • Fill in sparse brows
  • Thicken a thin line or redraw it
  • Redraw unruly brows
  • Open up the eye area

Enriched with protective, softening Acacia wax and nourishing Camellia oil, Phyto-Sourcils Design takes care of brows. The film-forming Carnauba wax coats brows to give a precise line, while the pencil texture is soft and powdery for a line with a dry, matt finish that stays soft. An in-built highlighter for under the arch of the brows adds illumination and opens the eyes up.

And for those who already have thick, dark brows the Sisley Phyto-Sourcils Fix setting gel is worth knowing about… Aimed at those who wish to tame natural, thick eyebrows in a single stroke. It maintains the eyebrows in place all day long without stiffening them. Shade 0 is completely invisible to tame eyebrows discreetly while gels with shades 1 and 2 subtly colour eyebrows for an intensified look.

Sisley is available to purchase in South Africa at Sisley counters in Edgars & Red Square stores and via the Red Square online store.
