Beauty Review: Nimue Skin Technology

As a beauty blogger of over 8 years I receive an abundance of products to review, and while that is not a bad problem to have, the guilt I feel when I don’t manage to get to review everything is horrible!

To escape this awful feeling I’ve signed up a few of my favourites to be my Beauty Babes and today I’m sharing a Beauty Review by Mareike..

A glowing skin can be the best accessory for going into the colder winter months. I received a beautiful box of skincare products to test out by Nimue Skin Technology.

While I hadn’t heard of the brand before, I was excited to test them out. The global brand offers nutricosmetic skincare products that treat skin concerns such as fine wrinkles, dry skin to acne and eczema.

The silver-white box contained 5 pretty containers: 2 tubes of Moisturiser Lite, 2 bottles of Cleansing Gel Lite, and 1 tube of Exfoliating Enzyme.

It also contained some white gauze, which puzzled me. Why would a beauty brand use this material instead of cotton wool?

The accompanying pamphlet explained, “Gauze assists in the natural exfoliation action.” While I usually use cotton wool, the gauze felt soft and comforting on my skin.

My skin has always been dry; and my husband and I were heading on a three-week holiday around southern Africa. I’ve always needed a hard-working and anti-inflammatory formula for my skin – and use a daily night cream and an intense day cream in combination.

So, I was at first skeptical of the lite mention in the moisturiser’s name. My mom’s a beautician and taught me to always test products first – the cream was absorbent, gentle and had a thick consistency, so I knew it would be great for our holiday with unpredictable temperatures.

The Nimue pamphlet helped me create a skincare routine. Personally, if a routine requires too many steps, I usually skip some stages and end up not following through on the process. For my lifestyle, a skincare routine must be quick and easy.

Also, we were going to be travelling for three weeks – so it had to be simple.

Nimue advises that you cleanse your face twice a day in the morning and evening; and to exfoliate 2 – 3 times a week in the evening. As I have sensitive skin, I only exfoliated once a week and I found this to be enough for me (although the Nimue Exfoliating Enzyme is very gentle). Then you moisturise in the morning and evening. It was an easy routine, and I would say, had great results.

What did I love about each Nimue product?

Cleansing Gel Lite

  • It’s a creamy gel that’s easy to wash off but doesn’t make my face feel too dry
  • It did a good job at removing my make-up
  • Nimue suggests applying a small amount on your face and then massage with wet fingertips. It worked well!

Moisturiser Lite

  • Does not have a strong ‘perfume’ smell like some moisturisers I’ve tried
  • Thick consistency
  • Absorbent, and made my skin feel super soft

Exfoliating Enzyme

  • I’m always a bit worried about irritating my skin with new products, but I didn’t have any problems! My sensitive skin felt amazing after using the exfoliation.
  • According to Nimue, the Exfoliating Enzyme has Papaya and Pineapple enzymes which gently detach skin cells and promote cell renewal.

To summarise, I found my skin to be glowing and healthy after our trip; and I especially had no blackheads which I sometimes struggle with. Now, I’m not sure if that was because of the holiday relaxation or because of Nimue, but I’ll be trying out more of their products in the future. I especially loved the moisturiser – it didn’t have a strong fragrance and was quickly absorbed by my skin.

I’d recommend Nimue to both friends and family! Nimue also offers an extensive range of skincare products ranging from a sunscreen, skin conditioners, serums, eye and lip treatments, masks, active lotions and foundations. The brand has also launched a new app called Nimue Skin Application where you can get your own personalized skin health programme. It helps you get advice and tips on your skin type and you can monitor your skin’s progress.
