Beauty Review: Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lip colours

Another brilliant beauty review from my Beauty Babes team. This one from makeup artists extraordinaire Kirsten Murphy Rossiter

I’ve been wanting to try these for a while now so I was very excited when I saw that these Maybelline beauties were in my lovely box of surprises from Kath!

There are 10 vibrant colours to choose from, they range from neutral tones to vivacious reds, pinks and purple tones…

When applying any matte lipstick, I like to make sure my lips are clean and well moisturised. The lovely doe foot shaped lip applicator helps to really define your lip and create a perfect shape.

What I love about it is that it’s quite buildable, you can go from quite a sheer stained look to a more intense striking lip, which is so great for those are are wanting to try a bright lip but you don’t necessarily want something too loud.

I find that these colours bright but definitely more on the conservative side of bright. The velvety texture is not drying on the lips in any way as matte lipsticks often are. Which leads me to my next point…

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid is not completely matte. I would say it is definitely more of an opaque lip colour. If you apply a small dot to the centre of your lips and work it in with your finger as a stain, the result will be matte, but if you apply quite a bit of the product at once as you would a normal lipstick, the result will be somewhere around an opaque gloss.

Overall, I have loved the fact that I have been able to use these liquid lipcolours on most skin tones. I definitely would recommend trying it if you’re wanting a convenient, easy to apply lip colour that is not too matte.
