Beauty Review: Mavala New Look Collection

My Beauty Babe, Kirsten, has a new Beauty Review for you today featuring the New Look Collection from Mavala.

A beautiful bunch of colours representing some of my favourite big cities of the world!

I love everything to do with travel and new cities, so it was interesting for me to see which city colours I was drawn to. These are beautiful rich tones, perfect for the change in weather that is happening in Cape Town right about now.

The cute size of the Mavala bottle ensures that there is no time for your nail polish to thicken, because before you know it, the bottle is done! I do find it a little expensive for the size, but the quality is so great, that it almost makes it worth it. I find that I manage to get at least 5 days of wear with a good base coat and top coat. I love the dainty application brush, it really helps to ensure a neat application.

Munich (deep red) : Not a city I have been to, but surprisingly the colour in the collection that I have been wearing the most. I don’t usually get drawn to red, but this rich red has been surprisingly beautiful on my nails, I definitely think I will be finishing this bottle soon!

Melbourne (a rich grey with gold specks ) : A city I have been to! (‘cos every South African has a cousin in Melbourne right!?) This colour is pretty, I love the two-tone, grey with gold. It is almost unexpected, not quite the two colours I would naturally put together, but it really works, it’s artsy and creative, like Melbourne.

Toronto (a loud coral): Now Toronto or Canada as a whole has never made it on to my bucket list, I have heard that it is really beautiful though. The same goes for this colour, it is exquisitely beautiful on the nails. In terms of popularity on my nails, this has been second to Munich. It is in my opinion, the perfect coral.

Austin (dull, metallic silver) : This beautiful colour, I think, is likened to the metallic sheen on the lakes in Austin, Texas. Also, a state I have not yet been to. It is the most perfect, metallic nail polish. The colour is smooth and flat, with no sparkly bits, just plain metallic. I do secretly wish it was gold though.

Seoul (a rusty, sheer copper with a gold sparkle) : A crazy awesome city that I have visited! The only thing I can think of that reminds me of this colour are the trees that line the streets of Seoul in autumn. A sheer pearl textured nail polish for those days when you want to be a little understated.

Copenhagen (sea green): A city I would definitely love to visit one day. A strong, deep green for those days when you feel you need to step outside of the box. The creamy texture of this nail polish applies smoothly and evenly, so much so that one coat could be enough.

A high five to Mavala for giving us toxic free nail polish that allows nails to breathe naturally.

For someone like me who rarely goes without nail polish, this is a huge plus because I can wear colour on my nails all the time without the worry of them getting damaged! Also, if this isn’t enough, the brand is cruelty-free too! YAY Mavala!

Mavala Nail Polish can be purchased at Clicks and Dischem for around R87 a bottle.
