Beauty Review: La Source® by Crabtree & Evelyn

I’m sitting here writing this post with the most incredible scent of the sea floating around me… and no I’m not overlooking the beach. I’m at my desk deep in suburbia (although a sea view home is on my bucket list!)

The fresh fragrance is all thanks to this stunning sea-inspired range from Crabtree & Evelyn… La Source®

There’s something so special about this brand, I always feel super nostalgic when I encounter Crabtree & Evelyn, especially La Source. I’m not sure but I think it might have something to do with my gran. I always think of her when I smell this range! And the scent of La Source® is reminiscent of fresh marine air!

La Source® is a range of bath and body products that are inspired by the powerful experience of the sea…. restorative, invigorating, calming, tranquil, dynamic!

The La Source® collection of products contains a wealth of powerful marine ingredients for your hair, skin and body that leave a spa-like scent and the sensation of warm ocean breezes on your body, mind and soul.

Nurture your skin with four mineral-enriched marine blends, each containing Green Seaweed extract, a natural ingredient found throughout the British Isles and known to be rich in antioxidants. Naturally rich in vitamins and minerals, seaweed plays a key role in the new La Source® formulations and each powerful blend has been created to provide specific, targeted benefits.

Cultivated by the sea and captured by Crabtree & Evelyn, these rich marine ingredients are known to help restore suppleness and vitality.

The four marine blends are:

Refreshing Marine Blend – Green Seaweed + Brown Algae Extract Benefits: Cleansing, purifying and moisturising

Hydra Marine Blend – Green Seaweed + Blue Sea Lavender Extract Benefits: Nourishing and purifying

Restorative Marine Blend – Green Seaweed + Red Sea Algae Extract Benefits: Protective

Rejuvenating Marine Blend – Green Seaweed + Sea Fennel Extract Benefits: Rejuvenating

I have a few faves from the La Source® range which I love incorporating into my daily routine to sweep me away to an island holiday for a few moments of my morning!

This creamy scrub refreshes, reawakens, exfoliates and softens skin. Featuring the Refreshing Marine Blend is also contains Pumice and Sunflower Wax Beads to polish the skin and reveal a youthful appearing surface.

I squeeze a little scrub into my hands in the shower and then work it into the dry area of my body in circular movements paying special attention to my elbows and knees and I’m left with super soft skin that feels incredible! (R380 for 175ml)

This easy grip bar is a one-stop solution to cleansing, exfoliating and massaging. Also featuring the Refreshing Marine Blend it almost smells too good to use!!

Containing Apricot Seed Powder and Walnut Shell Powder to buff the skin’s surface and exfoliate dead skin cells this is a great product to alternate with the body scrub mentioned above. A nubbed edge provides a stimulating massage action and is perfect to massage tired muscles. (R200)

My hands are often neglected… and despite the fact that I know I should use hand cream I hardly ever do… unless it smells amazing and this one totally does! I’ve now taken to keeping it next to my laptop to remind me to apply it at least once a day and that small moment of pampering myself is blissful!

This ultra-moisturising hand cream is ocean-enriched with their Restorative Marine Blend of anti-oxidant-rich Green Seaweed Extract and protecting Red Sea Algae. Myrrh Extract helps condition nails and cuticles, while Macadamia Nut Oil and deeply-moisturising Shea Butter provide soothing care for hands. The hydrating power of Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides contribute to improve the skin’s natural moisture barrier. And, as I’ve mentioned, the scent of the sea lingers all day long! (From R120 – R500)

Crabtree & Evelyn surely make some of the very best hand creams around and any one of their products are always a welcome gift!

Crabtree & Evelyn products are available at all their own stand alone stores and at selected Dischem stores nationwide as well as online at
