A few weeks ago I received a parcel of gorgeous new goodies from GOSH cosmetics, a Danish beauty brand that is exclusive to Edgars stores in South Africa. This lovely brand produces makeup products that are PETA-approved (no animal testing!), Vegan-friendly and deliver great quality beauty products to suit every pocket!
Among the pretties in my parcel were a selection of makeup products from the new Winter collection by GOSH.
First up…
The GOSH Forever Eye Shadow Matt collection (R160ea)
These were the first products that I tried out and I was really pleased with the four very wearable colours in a selection of browns: Dark Grey, Dark Brown, Twisted Brown and Nougat.
I found that the crayon concept of applying eyeshadow really works for me and is so much simpler than applying eyeshadow powder! These eye shadow crayons applied the colour smoothly, blended easily and lasted for the whole day. There was no creasing, flaking or fading. I found it really great that I could blend the colours with my finger after application for the intensity I wanted and these browns are perfect for every day or you can smoke it up by using the darkest colour for a more intense evening look.
The GOSH Forever Metallic Eye Shadow collection (R160ea)
Similar to the Matt eye shadow crayons, there is also a range of Metallic shades available in the GOSH Forever Eyeshadow sticks – these ones looking particularly pretty in their shiny packaging!
Creamy metallic makeup can often fall short on pigment and longevity, but these don’t disappoint. They deliver solid, creamy colour, dry quickly, blend easily and last all day (you’ll need an oil-based makeup remover to get them off!)
The colours are really pretty too. Think Green, Plum, Blue, Grey, Silver Rose and Beige. I am a big fan of shimmering browns, golds and copper shades for adding interest to your eyelids during the day but I think that some of the more unusual shades will be great for those who like to push the envelope with their evening makeup…. they can even be used as eyeliners for those still trying out the metallic trend!
The GOSH Velvet Touch Matt Lipstick collection (R140ea)
Lipsticks are one of my favourite ways to create different makeup looks and I was pleased to get the chance to experiment with 3 colours from the Velvet Touch Matt Lipstick collection.
The colours I got to play around with were: Nude 162, Classic Red 005 and Cranberry 014.
Even though they are matt, the texture of these lipsticks is really creamy and moisturising, not at all drying. These lipsticks contain Vitamin E to protect and nourish lips and are comfortable to wear all day long. They deliver long-lasting colour at a great price.
The GOSH Primer Plus + Illuminating Skin Perfector (R225)
This primer really surprised me as I don’t use primers all too often as they feel like an extra step in my already rather rushed makeup routine… but what I discovered was that this amazing primer actually took the place of my usual BB Cream or Foundation!
I was all prepared to add that layer over the primer but on application realised that for an everyday look the primer was enough! This was thanks to the fact that the primer has a light beige tint and left my skin looking illuminated, brighter and more even toned.
Primers are one of the unsung heroes of the makeup world. These hard-workers ensure foundation lasts longer, applies evenly, fills in fine lines and keeps shine at bay. The GOSH Primer Plus works to even skin tone, smooth pores, extend the wear of your make-up, while reducing imperfections and giving the skin a luminous natural glow. What’s not to love?
This primer does contain silicone but doesn’t clog pores and is ideal for those with combination skin
The GOSH Giant Pro Liner (R185)
This was another one of the GOSH products I tried out quite quickly… to create a winged eyeliner look for a 70s party we were attending!
Eyeliner and me are not a good combo but I found that this “marker pen” style liner was super simple to use and even I managed to not make a mess of it!!!
If you’re keen on bold, dramatic liner, then do try the GOSH Giant Pro Liner (R185) a try. It’s super pointed tip in market pen form allows for precise application in one easy sweep and I found it really made a difference to my makeup when I defined my eyes with a little line! Plus there was no smudging… something I know can be a concern with these sorts of pens!
The GOSH Boombastic XXL Volume Mascara (R165)
One of my favourite mascaras – yes I’ve used this before – Boombastic is great for those looking for extra lash volume in one easy sweep. I found this formula to be lengthening too and there was no clumping instead I was left with separated lashes that looked thicker! Winning!
Here’s a fun look I created using the newest GOSH products I’ve reviewed above…
I first applied the Gosh Primer Plus + Illuminating Skin Perfector and then followed this with the Forever Eye Shadow Matt Sticks in 09 Nougat and Twisted Brown 10 which I applied using the crayon and then blended with my finger tips (no need for brushes here!)
I used the Nougat eye shadow crayon to fill in my brows ever so slightly as this always makes such a huge difference and then applied a very thin line of the the GOSH Giant Pro Liner followed by a slick of Boombastic mascara on my lashes.
I didn’t use any blusher as I have a natural flush to my cheeks during winter but you could try one of GOSH’s blush sticks if you need some more colour.
Lastly I used the Velvet Touch Lipstick in Cranberry on my lips. This is a beautiful colour for winter and one I think I’ll be using fairly often in the next few months.
What do you think??
I’m not usually one for posting pics of my makeup looks as I don’t feel like I’m an expert beauty blogger or makeup artist (just a regular mom who likes to wear makeup!) but I’m pretty pleased with how this one turned out so maybe you’ll see more of them in the future. Let me know in the comments if you’d be keen to see more of my makeup looks…
