Elizabeth Arden, a brand that is loved and known for their cult favorites like Eight Hour cream, Sunflowers and Red Door fragrances have recently brought out The High Drama Waterproof Eyeliner in Smokey Black, Espresso (brown) and Midnight Dream (blue).
These eyeliners have a wax-based, waterproof formula and key ingredients include Flexible Film Former which has long-wearing and water-resistant properties and Rice Bran Wax which conditions the skin.
With a pencil tip on the one end and a smudging wand on the other, the idea is that you are able to achieve more than one look with this liner. The texture of this pencil is so smooth that when It is absolutely sharp, you are able to draw a solid line along your top lash line and boy, does it stay! I find that the applicator on the other end doesn’t work very well, I prefer to use a pencil brush if I am planning on doing smudged look along the bottom lashline.
As a makeup artist, I am often on the lookout for quality products with great staying power. When I first tried these eyeliners on my hand, I thought I would give it a little test and I left it on to see if it would last. I went about my day as usual, showered in the evening, woke up the next day and the lines had not moved, they hadn’t even faded. I rubbed it pretty hard to see if it would budge and it didn’t until I used some micellar water to remove it. I was pretty impressed. I find that it works best if you are wanting a solid line, created with a pencil instead of a liquid liner. It is quite tricky to smudge once it is on, so you have to work quite quickly and possibly blend it with an eyeshadow of the same tone if you would like to create a smudged smokey eye.
I love that the colours are strong, the black is black, and brown is rich and intense. The blue is striking with a slight sparkle.
If you are in the market for an eyeliner that really does what it says it will do, give this one a go. It retails at around R280 at Woolworths and Foschini.
