Beauty Review: Almay Best Blend Foundation

A brand new Beauty Review for you today from Beauty Babe and professional make-up artist Roxy… this one featuring the Best Blend Foundation from Almay.

Almay – the brand

Founded in 1931, an incredible 88 years ago, the brand Almay was born. The makeup child of Fanny and Alfred Woititz was conceived when Fanny was in need of a cosmetic product that did not irritate her skin. Alfred was a chemist by profession and started experimenting with the help of dermatologist Marion Sulzberger. Together they created the first cosmetic brand that used hypoallergenic ingredients and the rest is history.

Review of Almay’s Best Blend Foundation

When I was given the chance to try out this foundation, I was quite intrigued. I am sure many makeup artists and beauty lovers are always excited to test and try something new – and I am no different!

Almay is known for its hypoallergenic products and this foundation is no different. It is dermatologist tested, fragrance free and has an SPF of 40! It is available in 12 shades and claims to wear for up to 8 hrs.

I tried this foundation out on myself as well as some of my models I did shoots with. The colour match is a bit off, the colour is definitely different to how it looks in the tube. I found it was lighter than what it appeared, however once the right colour was applied it looked good and came across nicely on camera.

The application using the sponge provided was a bit tricky and I can see it soaking up quite a bit of the product so I opted to use a brush and it worked well.

The texture and finish is pretty, its luminous and has a skin like quality which I really like. I would have to say this is more like a tinted moisturizer, a bit thicker, but definitely not a full coverage foundation. In saying this when paired with a concealer you can most definitely achieve a fuller coverage or build as you see fit.

A great plus to this foundation is that it contains hyaluronic acid, which is great for that all day hydrated skin feeling as hyaluronic acid attracts moisture to the skin, be warned though if your skin is a bit more on the oiler side you will need a powder to set this foundation.

I personally enjoyed this foundation, its sheer which I like and looks like skin which I love! If you have a relatively good skin, or, like me, enjoy that no-makeup makeup look then this is a goodie.
