This past weekend saw the very first Urban Decay store open in Cape Town… something makeup magpies in the Mother City have been waiting to happen for months!
I was invited along to the press preview on Friday evening and snapped a few photos to show you what you might expect!
Come with me to get a sneak peek if you’ve not yet managed to make your way down to the Waterfront plus I’ll share a few Urban Decay favourites that I’ve added to my very long shopping list!
Urban Decay is all about incredible colour payoff. I’ve not had much exposure to the brand yet myself, but from what I’ve heard among other beauty bloggers, it’s really one of the best. And when it comes to eyeshadows you can’t beat their beautiful palettes.
Their top sellers are always the Naked Palettes. The original (No 1) is a collection of 12 neutral eyeshadow shades ranging from pale taupe to metallic black and is renowned for its ability to create an array of looks, from subtle to smokey and beyond… No 3 focuses more on the rose gold end of the spectrum and is really very pretty, esp for those with blue eyes.
If you’re on a budget or a more simple makeup kinda gal then the smaller Naked Basics palette might be for you. Six of UD’s neutral hues in matte finishes.
If you’re more of a bright babe, then this Electric Pressed Palette Pigment Palette is for you. This vibrant 10-shade palette is basically the opposite of the neutral Naked Palette, featuring hot pink, bold cobalt, lime green, orangey red, and other super pigmented hues, this will definitely be that burst of colour you need to stand out from the crowd.
Top of my own shopping list is The Original Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion... it’s a cult beauty buy that seems to appear in the makeup collections of all the top models, makeup artists and beauty fanatics around the world!
The original formula is a bestseller for one simple reason: it works. Applying this to your eyelids prior to using eyeshadow will allow the eye makeup to grip to your skin rather than sliding, smudging, or creasing and leave your eyeshadow looking incredible all day long! WIN!
The newest Urban Decay collection is the Naked Heat collection which was launched this weekend…
It’s simply glorious and almost every girl at the event was raving about how beautiful the colours are and how they complement almost every eye colour. I’m dying to try this one out too…
Another cult Urban Decay buy is their range of concealers. More than one blogger I spoke to was investing in one of the The Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer on the night.
With 11 shades, a demi-matte finish, a soft sponge tip applicator, and a lightweight texture, Urban Decay’s creamy concealer is your best bet to beat dark circles and pesky pimples.
Right, I’m about ready to blog my budget at Urban Decay Cape Town… who’s with me???
Let me know which are YOUR favourite Urban Decay products in the comments below. In the chaos of the launch I might have missed something so I’d love to hear from you….
