Beauty Review: NUXE Huile Prodigieuse

One of the most iconic beauty brands to be found on the shelves of beauty bloggers, influencers, celebs and the everyday girl is NUXE Huile Prodigieuse®.

The texture and fragrance of this wonder product has seduced many women over the years looking for a practical and pleasant product to use in their daily beauty regime.

What is a dry oil?

Oil and dry don’t usually appear in the same concept, so what makes this oil different?

A dry oil refers to the rapidity of your skin absorbing the oil without leaving a wet or sticky feeling.

After applying this unique dry oil it only takes a couple of minutes to be absorbed into your skin and you can get dressed almost immediately, without leaving any traces of oil on your clothes.

What are the main ingredients in NUXE Huile Prodigieuse

No. 1* in the Oils category in French pharmacies, NUXE Huile Prodgeniuse® is a 98% natural product and it contains botanical oils that nourish and repair both hair and skin. It is also free from preservatives, silicone and mineral oils and contains no animal derived ingredients making it vegan friendly!

The main ingredients are:

From the Tsubaki flower, a precious oil is extracted that has been used by geishas to nourish, hydrate and protect their hair and skin. Excellent at maintaining skin and hair’s moisture levels.

The oil that is extracted from the Camellia seed is known for its protecting power on skin and hair. This oil is rich in Omega 9 which has great nourishing and hydrating qualities. Aids skin healing.

This oil contains a lot of omegas 6 which are very efficient for nourishing dry skin. Essential for increasing elasticity.

From the velvety shell of the almond the oil is extracted. Rich in Omegas 6 and 9, it nourishes your skin deeply and makes it feel soft. Limits oxidative stress to the skin cells.

The subtle oil of hazelnuts is rich in omega 9 and vitamin E, which gives it great qualities like hydrating, relaxing and protecting. High in vitamin E to improve and smooth skin texture.

The very light, yet rich oil of the macadamia is absorbed by your skin quickly, leaving it soft and flexible. Great at regenerating and repairing skin and hair.

Borage oil is prized for its high gamma linoleic acid (GLA) content that helps to reduce inflammation. Helps to restore hydration.

What does the NUXE dry oil smell like?

One of the biggest selling point of NUXE Huile Prodigieuse is the unique, delicious scent that smells like summer and is full of the sun’s warmth. Notes of white flowers and vanilla give this oil a creamy floral aroma that feels warm and intoxicating.

How to use NUXE Huile Prodigieuse dry oil

This multi-purpose product is a pioneer in the category of dry oils and, since it’s arrival on the scene in 1991, it has made a huge impact on the beauty world. It contains anti-oxidants that act as a “shield” against pollution and fight against free radicals like cigarette smoke.

Here are a few ways to use this unique dry oil in your beauty routine:

Mix a couple of drops with your usual skin care product for ultra-nourished skin.

Apply the dry oil as a moisturiser in the middle of your face and works towards the contours with smooth movements.

Apply in small circular movements onto acne scars to help to fade these.

Add a drop to your foundation to ensure smooth application and a dewy, fresh finish.

Use after sun or UV exposure to revive your skin.

If you struggle with oily skin apply overnight to help rebalance sebum production.

Apply to your cheekbones as a highlighter.

For the guys: It makes a beard oil!

Use as a daily body moisturiser after your shower.

Massage gently into stretch marks to reduce their appearance.

Apply this oil on areas that you want to enhance – your shoulders, neck or decolletage – for an alluring glow and seductive scent.

Use on your hands as a moisturiser.

Massage into tired muscles.

Apply the oil onto your legs and you will see how it catches the light and illuminates your skin.

Use as a shaving oil for the smoothest finish.

As this dry oil is naturally scented, it also works as an excellent non-photosensitizing fragrance, that’s ideal to use if you’re very reactive to sunlight.

Add a few drops into your bath, the pleasant fragrance is just perfect for a relaxing moment!

Use it as a hair mask – spraying the product on the lengths and the hair tips, massaging it in and leaving it on for 10 minutes. Afterwards wash your hair normally with shampoo.

Spraying it on the lengths and tips to nourish your hair and make it more shiny and flexible. Use sparingly as a little bit goes a long way!

De-frizz hair after heat-styling by applying a small amount into your hands and working it through your hair from the bottom upwards.

To refresh hair spray onto your hair brush and brush from lengths downwards.

Use this oil as a hot oil treatment – place the glass bottle in warm (not hot) water, and heat your towel then wash your hair. When damp, comb through the oil from lengths to ends and place your hair in a warm towel twist for 10 minutes and rinse.

Curly hair type? Use this to tame and define your curls.

Use Huile Prodigieuse Riche to stop a dry, flaky scalp. Make sure your hair is damp, then apply a little bit to the affected areas overnight, and if needed, shampoo out in the morning.

What is the difference between the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse dry oil variants?

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse dry oil – Original

The original NUXE Huile Prodigieuse was created by Aliza Jabès who was looking for a natural solution to tone and nourish her skin, while helping with stretch marks. After trialling and researching, she developed this non-greasy formula enriched with botanicals and plant extracts to fill this void.

This was the first NUXE Huile Prodigieuse version I tried and I’ve been a loyal fan ever since. I love the scent although I find it can be a bit overpowering if sitting in a small space! I love using this on my dry arms and split ends!

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse dry oil – Riche

Although the classic formula is perfect for dry skin, Nuxe has now developed a new formula for extra dry and dehydrated skin, NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Riche. It’s ideal for skin and hair that needs an intensive moisture boost, or as a seasonal switch up during winter. This dry oil’s texture is less runny and more emollient than the original. An excellent pregnancy oil, hair mask, and replenishing overnight skincare step, the benefits of Riche are endless.

I recently tried this version and my dry, dehydrated skin really soaked it up. I enjoy the texture of this oil a bit more as it isn’t as liquid. I also have this variant in a 100ml spray bottle and I can recommend that it is an easier way to apply the oil so if you can afford the 100ml version, splash out!

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse dry oil – OR (Golden Shimmer)

The NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Golden Shimmer variant is one of my favorites, especially during summer when legs and arms are on display more frequently. Besides all the benefits the classical oil provides, this one has very small golden glitters which gives a great subtle shimmer and golden glow to your skin. This is lovely for evening occasions and on bare legs at the beach.

This is DIVINE in summer to add a sparkle and I love using this on my legs to add a hint of colour. I particular like taking the small sample sizes of this product with me on holiday and keep a few in my toiletry bag – it’s so multi-purpose as it can be used in so many ways, including as a scent if you forget to pack one!

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse dry oil – Florale

The newest addition to the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse family, Florale, has the same texture, benefits and results, but with a fab new pink bottle, citrus scent and an additional precious botanical oil – bringing the total to 7.

The rose-tinted bottle and metallic cap hint at the new delicate scent, designed by French perfumer Irène Farmachidi, that contains notes of Grapefruit zest, Magnolia and Musk. You instantly get an intense hit of citrus from the grapefruit on the first spray of Florale, but as the oil blends into the skin, creamy florals start to prevail. Finally drying down with warm wafts of smooth white musk. This version is more feminine than the original composition – an ode to youth.

This product has just landed on my desk and I can confirm it is beautiful! From the simple pretty packaging to the stunning new scent: I’m in love! I love the fresh citrus notes of this scent and think I may even prefer it to the original – which is a big statement!
