A few weeks back I shared a post where I embraced my age and shared why I love being in my thirties… it was partly inspired by turning 35 in July, but also by the new #LoveYourAge ad campaign from Lancôme which encouraged woman around the world to embrace their age!!
The campaign featured 4 gorgeous ambassadresses who didn’t feel the need to hide or lie about how many years they have been alive… in fact they proudly proclaimed their age… and were genuinely happy about it!
If you watched the video I shared in the previous post you would have seen that Kate Winslet, Pénelope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o and Lily Collins have joined forces for the new Lancôme Advanced Genifique #LoveYourAge campaign. These Hollywood ladies are looking to change how we view our age and are promoting a healthier and happier attitude towards ageing.
The amazing thing is that when looking ate line up below it’s almost impossible to see which of them is older. Forty-year-old Penelope Cruz’s complexion glows as if lit from within, appearing no more or less luminescent than that of 25-year-old Lilly Collins or 39-year-old Kate Winslet and not to mention the irridescent 32-year-old Lupita Nyong’o.

Recent research conducted by Lancôme shows that one in five women have lied about their age. According to the study most women feel their most confident at age 30, a third said they felt their most confident between the ages of 18 and 25 and nearly half said they loved being 26 to 40.
But what happens to those of us who have past this numbers on the calendar? Well, the truth is that age is really just a number. It has nothing to do with how old you are and far more to do with how old you feel!
Unfortunately there is still a social stigma associated with ageing and women with children are typically more likely to have knocked years off than those without children and they take more years off their age when telling a “white lie” (five compared to three years for non-mums)
Beauty is not about hiding your age. It’s about loving it and making the most of it.
But back to the beautiful actresses of the campaign… What was their secret to feeling so pleased to be the age that they are?
Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying the product out for myself…. Lancôme’s iconic products… Advanced Génifique.
This little black bottle is the first step of all Lancôme routines and was the inspiration for the campaign. A cross-generational and universal serum, it has become a cornerstone of skincare and a must-have product for women all over the world.
Advanced Génifique was launched in 2009, the first serum inspired by the field of gene science. Known as a Youth Activating Concentrate, it’s suitable for all woman, no matter what their skin type, ethnicity or age.
I have been using the serum morning and night for the past 2 weeks. One tiny drop from the clever self-loading pipette style dropper is enough for my entire face and neck as the product spreads smoothly. The formula is light and smooth to the touch and absorbs quickly into my skin. Within a few seconds there is not trace left on my face and I’m able to continue with my regular routine of moisturiser and makeup. I found the serum wasn’t moisturising enough to go without moisturiser.
This serum contains antioxidants such as vitamin C and skin-repairing sodium hyaluronate as well as bifida ferment lysate – a type of yeast. Unfortunately it does contain alcohol which can tend to dry skin and even “age” skin prematurely with long term overuse.
And results? My skin appears to have an “inner glow” which I love! The area where I’ve noticed the biggest improvement is in the fine lines around my eye area which are far less pronounced and obvious which definitely make me look and feel younger!
Lancôme believes that women’s beauty is revealed through their distinctive presence and captivating energy emitted from within; an aura that can surround any woman and that can be more attractive than external appearance and I concur.
