A piece of me…

A few weeks ago I was asked by Anna from Anna-Louise to answer a few questions about myself… This proved to be such fun as I can’t recall when last I spent a few minutes thinking about these sorts of things!

Today she has posted my “interview” and I’m very flattered and excited to appear on Anna’s beautiful blog. To read the interview click here.

Or see below…

Describing myself in five words…Organised, Fun-loving, Impatient, Optimistic Mom!

The book I’m reading now is… Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, I loved Charlotte Gray so when I found this on afriend’s bookshelf I thought I should read it – it has become a modern dayclassic. I am also due to read my latest bookclub choice, Blood Kin by CeridwenDovey a South African author. Looking forward to it because I have read someinteresting reviews and I went to primary school with the author. I think it will be quite different from what I usually read!

My dream outfit is… I would love to own a designer outfit, a beautiful little dress by Chanel and a pair of Manolo Blahnik’s would do nicely.

I’m loving… Family fun days out in the winter sunshine…. So blessed to live in Cape Town where there are so many amazing places to get out and explore!

I started blogging because… As a mom of 2 I felt a bit frustrated that all I was good for was mothering, soto satisfy the other parts of me which had been dormant for a while I started reading blogs and really enjoyed them, I then decided to start one of my own. The idea behind my blog is for it to be a place where I can document everything that inspires me – fashion, interiors, style, photography – as well as things to do with motherhood and kids too. I hope that I can help other women and moms to discover what it is that they are passionate about and be a resource for them to be inspired too!

I never leave home without… My bag which is stuffed to the brim with an assortment of essentials – tissues, juice cup, wipes, a spare nappy, keys, diary, wallet, old nokia phone (yes INEED a smart phone!), lipstick. To be honest I’m not quite sure what else islurking at the bottom of my bag at the moment…. It scares me so I’m giving it a wide berth.

To satisfy my sweet tooth I head to… The Lindt display shelf. mmmmm Lindt balls….

I do all my shopping at… I LOVE Country Road at Woolworths for clothes but I usually have to wait for the sales As much as I enjoy shopping for clothes I’m not too clued up on style so a personal shopper or stylist would be wonderful!

My dream date is…. A night out alone with my husband is my dream date – after 9 years of marriage I still love his company but we hardly get time to spend together sans kids so I would have to say dinner at a smart, new restaurant with him would be great. This would have to include time on my own to get dressed up nicely beforehand (with make-up!) and obviously a good dessert menu Actually this is “dream date” – so let’s make this date somewhere in Italy!

When I get home from work the first thing I do is.. I work part-time so usually I am rushing straight from work to fetch my son – no time for putting my feet up until the kids are in bed. In my previous life I would kick my shoes off and lie on my bed with a magazine soaking up the last of the sun… Maybe one day that will happen again???

Have a lovely day – wherever you are and whatever you are doing!

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
