My 5 Favourite Finds for November

So November ended yesterday and we’re into the LAST MONTH OF 2014… Wow. Our parents were right, years fly by the older you get!!

So, before Christmas craziness and school holiday mayhem descend on these parts let me share with you My 5 Favourite Finds for the month of November!

My selections for this month are all things I have been loving, and more than that, I think you will love them too… in fact any one of these would make a fab pressie for a friend or family member this Christmas.

1. Mr Price Outdoor Cushions

As born and bred South Africans, we spend a lot of time outdoors and in summer a braai is my preferred method of entertaining… Last year we invested in a rather expensive wooden patio set which has been so worth it time and time again. We have loved having a comfortable outdoor seating area, now all I need is to do a few renovations to enclose the roof in order to escape the South Easter, but I digress… One thing I didn’t upgrade at the time was our outdoor patio cushions thinking we could use the old ones. BUT the thing is that the old ones were super thin foam which is find when you’re sitting on a white plastic chair but not so great on wooden slats! So when I spied these beautiful, bright watercolour cushions in my local Mr Price Home I knew they were going to be a winner! And I was totally right. They are MUCH more comfortable and make my outdoor area look so much prettier. Love them! The winning thing is that even if you aren’t near a Mr Price Home store you can still get your hands on them via their online store! (R99.99 from Mr Price Home)

2. Sweet William Birthday Calendar

I love the quirky illustrations by Paula at Sweet William and also enjoying getting another print or item from her range. The latest addition to the collection is this lovely birthday calendar and as mine has been LONG overdue for an upgrade I decided it was “necessary” Now all I need to do is spend an hour or two updating it with all the important dates and new additions to our lives in the way of new babies and new friends! 3. Bronze Glow bronzing powder palette from Bobbi Brown

Summer is here (sort of) and that means it’s time to break out the bronzer and add a subtle shimmer to your skin! I’ve been loving this gorgeous High Light Powder from Bobbi Brown. This limited edition product comes in a tortoise shell compact with a mirror and is available in two shades, bronze glow and pink glow. The powder is a velvet like texture and is comprised of pigments and light reflective pearls. The best way to use bronzing powder is to add a very light dusting to your cheeks, temples and decolletage BEFORE you then apply your usual blusher. It’s the perfect way to give yourself an “inner glow” and look a little bit more radiant than usual. A little goes a long way! (R690.00 at Bobbi Brown counters at selected Edgars, Stuttafords stores and Red Square stores)

4. My personalised Havaianas

Another one of my essential items for summer is a pair of slip slops – and none come close to Havaianas for comfort and colour. I was fortunate enough to be invited to their recent pop-up shop at the Waterfront where customers were invited to create their own Havaianas – selecting the base and strap colour and then choosing an embellishment of their choice to add personality to their pair! I had lots of difficulty finally deciding on my combo but eventually decided on a navy blue base, gold straps and a pretty little star shape as my my bit of bling! And since I got them the day before my trip to Zanzibar I didn’t take them off for the better part of a week! Unfortunately the pop-up shop is no longer taking place but you can still choose a pair of personalized Havis as there are so many great options. And those of you who live near me in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town will be pleased to know that I spied a new outlet for Havaianas at the Blue Route Mall which means that you don’t have to trek all the way to the Waterfront for the next while… (From R185 – wide strap and R265 – slim strap)

5. Ackermans Beach Towel

This beach towel from Ackermans really lives up to it’s name…. it literally lists all the top South African beaches on the front. I got sent one of these fab towels and as I was about to buy a few news ones I decided to go and buy another one just like it! It’s such a fun idea and now I might just have to make it my mission to visit all the amazing beaches listed on it!! It comes in this turquoise hue and also with a red background (R139.99 at Ackermans)

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
