Yes I’m actually on time with this post considering it’s the last day of the month, probably because I am so excited about my latest favourite finds that I couldn’t wait a moment longer to share them with you…
So, here we go…. My 5 Favourite Finds for June 2014 are
1. My Timex watch
For years now I’ve not worn a watch. I think the change came about the same time that I started owning a cell phone and it was easy to check the time on that instead but it could have also been that wearing one was a bit tricky while I had a small baby on (in) my hands all the time – they don’t take kindly to large chunks of metal sticking into their back!! Anyway I recently have started wearing one again and not only have I found it to be super practical – I don’t have to keep asking other people what the time is and seem to be keeping to my schedule a bit better but I’ve also been loving the style statement it makes! In the past I’ve always gone for quite delicate, dainty feminine watches but this time I’ve been rocking a masculine, chunky look with this Timex number. I love the silver mesh strap and a large face – what do you think?? Do you wear a watch? (R999)
2. Opsis Therapy Eye Brightening Gel
This eye product from Juliette Armand – a really great Greek skin care range new to the South African market – came along at just the right time. I’m definitely noticing more fine lines and wrinkles around my eye area of late and it’s starting to freak me out!! I had JUST made a resolution to start using an eye cream when I received this at a recent launch. Now every night before I got to bed I’m applying this product in the hope that it will do what it says on the box…. obviously hard to tell with the anti-aging claims as those improvements will only be evident in some years time but for now I’m enjoying the process of applying this cooling gel – it means I take a few minutes to relax and unwind – one you twist the cap of your “injection” into the ON position you then pop the cap back onto the “injection” and use the little rubberized tip to gently massage in the product to the skin around your eyes. The process is really calming and I’m pretty sure the product works even harder because of my extra effort in applying it 😉
Juliette Armand was founded in 1992 by a couple of Greek pharmacists, Ioulia Armagou and Michalis Papaefstratiou, with the aim of creating high quality skincare at affordable prices. Whilst the effects of time cannot be stopped, they can be slowed down, and it is their mission to slow down the effects on the skin. The box says this product will visibly reduce wrinkles, dark circles and swelling while improving moisture levels and tone around the eye area and I’m really looking forward to seeing the benefits of this “Anti-surgery system” from their Skin Boosters Range.
3. Converse Sneakers
I’m not quite sure how at the age of almost 34 I’ve only JUST discovered these shoes! Where have I been living you may ask… Somehow between pumps, boots and running shoes I’ve never quite discovered sneakers! So, when I was recently reading a list of the top items you need in your wardrobe and saw that these were one of them I rushed off to Access Park to buy a pair (well, ok maybe 2 pairs) – both Funky Stars and Footgear stock Converse. My sister couldn’t believe I’d never had them before and she wouldn’t be classified as a fashionista. Anyway, I’m so glad I’ve now discovered Converse sneakers and will definitely be adding to my current collection of a pair of white trainers and navy high tops in the near future – they are such easy wearing shoes for weekends and make me feel young and trendy! Here’s me rocking my sneakers…
4. The Colossal Go Extreme Volum’ Mascara from Maybelline
Maybelline mascara is legendary for a reason – the Great Lash and more recently the Colossal are cult products around the world. The brand really is the front runner when it comes to mascaras on a budget! Now they have just launched an upgrade to the bright yellow tube! Colossal Go! Extreme Volum’ Mascara features a double pump wand for even extra volume to allow you to maximise the potential of your own lashes! The large, fluffy brush boosts volume, plus it contains a built-in reservoir to allow extra load of mascara onto the brush by loading more pigment onto your lashes. Go Extreme also has 20 times more collagen which means that the formula is very “flexible” and therefore won’t damage your lashes. I’ve been trying this mascara out for a few days and honestly I’ve never seen quite such a dramatic difference in the length and volume of my lashes! It’s a serious glam look and perfect for nights out when you want to skip the false lashes. It’s probably a bit too much for everyday wear – but then again is there such as thing as too much mascara? (as long as there are no clumps!) (R124.95)
5. La Vie Est Belle L’Eau de Toilette from Lancome Paris
I came across this scent at a recent Stuttafords beauty event (post to follow soon) and really loved it. Made with the most precious natural ingredients, La Vie Est Belle from Lancome Paris is a modern interpretation of an oriental fragrance with a twist of gourmand. It is a deliciously sweet, floral scent that lingers all day. Iris is the key ingredient of the perfume, surrounded by orange blossoms and jasmine. The top notes provide fruity flavors of black currant and pear, while the base is warm and powdery with patchouli and vanilla. The pretty glass bottle is filled with a lovely pink liquid and is stylishly elegant and very feminine.
La Vie est Belle embodies joyful femininity and happiness and makes life more beautiful.
The concept of this fragrance is centered on the idea of natural and simple beauty, freedom from conventions and the choice of once own vision of happiness. The fragrance is a kind of outlook on life, inspired by joy and pleasure in small things. “La Vie est Belle” means “Life is beautiful” in French and I really love the connotation one has when wearing this scent: the choice to live a beautiful, joyful life.
