So I missed my usual deadline for this post – usually the last day of the month – due to the holidays…. but I really enjoyed taking some time out from blogging daily that I hope you will forgive the tardiness of this post!
Now that the school holidays are FINALLY over – YAY!! I’m hoping to get back on track with all my regular posts.
Anyway without further ado let’s get to it… My 5 Favourite Finds for December!
1. 1989 by Taylor Swift
So this is a bit late as I have actually had 1989 on repeat in my car since it’s release in October but I only just realised that I never actually included it in a My 5 Favourite Finds posts. I know! As a dedicated “Swiftie” how is that possible??? Anyway what you will appreciate is that even after 3 months of repeat I’m STILL loving this album so that has to tell you something! It’s totally worth the buy – each song is awesome. IN fact I’m going to listen to it again, right now! My fave song is No 3 – Style. My daughters is No 5 – Shake it Off. And my son (because he is a default fan) is No 1 – Welcome to New York. (R145 on Loot. Also available at Musica and iTunes)
2. Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator
My make-up artist sister-in-law recommended this product to me when she saw it lying on my desk unused… and it’s been a really lovely discovering. Perfect for adding a little bit of glow to summer skin! I add a small amount to my moisturiser for a subtle shimmer and also use it alone as a very light BB cream. The trick to this product is to have super moisturised skin. If it’s at all dry the product will sink into your pores and look quite odd! (R170 on Spree. Also avail at Clicks, Dischem, Edgars and other retail outlets stocking Revlon products)
3. La-tweez Tweezers
This perfect pair of twwezers fro La-tweez are my next favourite find for the month of December. I hate a stray hair – it can really ruin my day… esp if it’s located in a spot where it shouldn’t be!! Anyway this new to SA product is revolutionary when it comes to perfect tweezing. Crafted from the finest stainless steel with perfectly aligned tips and featuring an ultra bright LED light for great visibility they also come in a cute carry case with built in magnifying mirror for perfect brows on the go! I got the pink pair but they also come in black. (R320 on Kalahari)
4. White Slip on Sneakers by Moji from a charity shop!
I love a good bargain buy and this next “Favourite Find” is just that! While browsing the side streets of Kalk Bay with the kids I came across a small little charity shop and just outside the door they had a shelf full of these white slip on sneakers by Moji – perfect summer shoes – and they were selling for a fraction of their usual price due to a few marks. At R50 they were a complete steal and they are so super comfy I haven’t gone a day since without wearing them! I so wish I’d bought another pair! A bonus is that my money actually went to the Animal Rescue Organisation which makes me feel very virtuous AND the most amazing bargain shopper! (R50 at Animal Rescue Charity Shop, Kalk Bay)
5. Dainty Silver Necklaces from Jin Jin Jewellery
A trend I’ve noticed lately is the inclination for wearing two or more very fine, dainty necklaces at the same time. I think it’s called “layering” and so with Christmas approaching I was keen to get myself one or two of these pretties on my wish list. And as luck would have it, the Christmas elves caught wind of this wish and saw fit to bring me two very pretty silver necklaces…. One was from my parents and the other my kids – how special 😉 I love wearing them together, and have done so almost every day since I got them. Both are from a sweet little jewellery shop called Jin Jin in Constantia Village Courtyard. I love their very fine chains and the significance of the symbol and stone are special for me – as is the people who gave them to me of course. (From R100 – R280 each at Jin Jin)
As an aside you won’t believe it but just after I took this pic we went for a beach walk as a family and only after returning quite a while later did I realise that I had lost one of them! After a few tears and prayers (me the former, my kids the latter!) my dedicated husband trundled off to see if he could find it… Hopes were VERY low as it was a BEACH – with sand and countless kelp and there was pretty much no way to retrace my steps. The only thing to go on was that I had taken my camera off from around my neck at one point and that may have been the moment when the chain broke. Anyway he offered to go, and I let him. And obviously was hugely helpful by sulking the rest of the afternoon – loosing stuff is really one of my pet peeves. I am horrible when I’ve lost something… Well, about 30 mins later he arrived back. WITH THE NECKLACE. How awesome is that. My lack of faith was shown up hugely by that of my little girl. “I know Jesus will find it for you mom” Of course the whole story reminded me of the time I lost my diamond earring. But that’s another story…
