My 5 Favourite Finds for December 2016

It’s December… you’re probably all on summer holidays sunning yourselves somewhere stunning.

But for those of you who are not… those still stuck behind a desk, I thought I’d keep you company with a few posts over the festive season…

So my  list of My 5 Favourite Finds for December is here…

1. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP+

la-roche-posay-lipikar-baumeMy kids struggle with severe dry skin and I’m always on the hunt for a body lotion or cream that will ease their itching. They’ve both been raving about this balm from La Roche-Posay so it’s made it’s way on to my list because happy kids = happy mom!

Lipikar is a lipid-replenishing balm that is anti-irritating and anti-scratching. It helps to soothe skin immediately and spaces out flare ups of very dry, irritate, sensitive, itchy skin. Fragrance and paraben free, it is suitable for babies, kids and adults.

The formulation re-establishes and stabilizes the skin’s microbiome balance – the populate of micro-organisms found on the skin’s surface and helps to restore and preserve the skin barrier.

The texture is light and non-greasy and non-sticky and it can be applied to face and body. It’s quickly absorbed into the skin and my kids haven’t complained once about it being applied to them daily… A good thing!!

This is a great body lotion for the entire family, esp those who suffer with ultra dry skin! The 200ml bottle sells for R280 and is available at Dischem stores.

2. Curaprox Black & White toothpaste

curaproxLately I’ve been noticing that my teeth aren’t quite as white as they could be… enter this new CuraproxBlack is White whitening toothpaste.

With no bleaching agents and no abrasives this unique toothpaste is made with activated charcoal that absorbs the substances that cause discolouration and hydroxylapatite which hardens the tooth enamel.

It actively works to make teeth whiter and stronger plus enzymes boost the anti-plaque action of the saliva and, together with fluoride, give double protection against tooth decay. Initially it was quite a shock to see black toothpaste, but now it feels totally normal! This unique toothpaste retails for R280 and is available at your nearest dentist or online at

3. Berried Treasures nail polish from essie

A pretty ruby red nail colour perfect for the Festive Season and this Berried Treasures one from essie has been on my nails more than any other colour in the past month – fingers and toes! It’s such a fun burst of bright and I love it!

4. Tangle Teezer Hairbrush

Now I know you’ve probably all got a hairbrush… or even 5. But I can bet you’ve never had a hairbrush like this!! Most of us have discovered the wonders of the Tangle Teezer and this is a next-level hairbrush from the same brand…

The newest brush from Tangle Teezer is The Ultimate and it is designed to give the ultimate finish when dry styling your hair. With a unique configuration of teeth that lightly detangles hair but still keeps a subtle tension on the hair strand this brush allows hair to snake through it for a smooth, high-shine finish.

The longer teeth and softer tips are perfect for creating pony tails with pizazz, while you can create great volume and texture with back-brushing. Those of you with hair extensions, clip-ins or weaves will also love this brush as it’s great for blending in hair to create a more natural look. Plus it’s super comfortable to use and fits really well into your hand.  Avail in pink and black for R300 at Clicks stores.

5. Styled by Emily Henderson

I bought this book months ago, back in February when my husband paid a visit to London and I could put in a gift request or two… It’s been sitting in a pile of unread books for months, mostly because this year became the one of renovations. And they took so much of my attention and time. Only recently have I finally felt like I’m settled in my home… and now I can spend some time decorating it and making it feel like our space again.

Enter Styled, this beautiful book by incredible decor and interior design blogger Emily Henderson has finally come to the fore of my late night reading habits… (rare, but oh so enjoyable!) I’m loving delving into it’s beautiful pages to get inspiration from stylish homes around the globe. I can’t wait to start sharing my own Home Renovation Room Reveals come the new year. To be honest they won’t look anything as awesome as the pages of this book, yet. Maybe this will be the first reveal… and then I’ll update the series as I make each room feel more like me. Available on for R457

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
