My 5 Favourite Finds – August 2017

It’s time to share my recent favourite finds with y’all today… And as you’ve probably come to expect I’m a few weeks late with the August Favourites. Anyhoo…. better late than never goes the old adage, right??

So without further ado here are my 5 Favourite Finds for the month of August – in no particular order 😉

1. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume

My son (and daughter, but to a lesser degree) still struggles with eczema and very dry skin even though he is heading for his pre-teen years. Eczema is such a terrible disease. Ok, so it’s not life-threatening (and for that I am very grateful) but it’s debilitating and frustrating. Every time you think you can relax and live a “normal” life it comes back to rear it’s ugly head… and that’s exactly what has happened these past few winter months! Another trip to the specialist allergy dermatologist, another round of medicated cream, another chat about the importance of daily moisturising… blah blah blah. My poor child. If I think I’m sick of this disease, he is even more so!

Fortunately we have found a really lovely new daily moisturiser that HE himself recommends. Lipikar Baume AP+ cream from La Roche-Posay is a super light-weight lotion that has anti-irritation and anti-scratch properties. This cream has been created for use by those with very dry, irritated, sensitive skin prone to itching and can be used by babies, children and adults.

My son has give this cream his own stamp of approval as it doesn’t feel sticky on his hands and sinks into his skin really quickly making the daily job of moisturising his entire body that much faster (and that’s really all that matters for a 10-year-old!) I, too, have enjoyed using this product when applying it to him so the new Lipikar Baume AP+ cream from La Roche-Posay is a firm favourite in our household this month! (R280)

2. Kiehls Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil

You know when you have been out all day or come home really late but have a full face of makeup to remove when all you want to do is jump straight between the sheets? Yep, me too! I HATE having to remove my makeup when I’m dead on my feet, but the truth is that removing your makeup properly every day (even when you’re can’t-stand-up tired) is the no one way to ensure good skin! (that, and drinking lots of water) So it’s vital that you still factor in time before bed to spend a few minutes removing ALL your makeup.

Enter my new favourite makeup remover: Kiehl’s Midnight Botanical Cleansing Oil. I know I featured this a few months back in my Beauty Buzz series (new product launches) but back then it hadn’t become part of my daily evening routine… and now it has!

This lightweight essential oil cleanser emulsifies with water to a cleansing milk, gently, yet effectively dissolving even the hardest to remove makeup and impurities without over-drying, leaving skin clean and replenished.

This is a win when you’re a lazy makeup remover like me. A few quick squirts of oil from the bottle applied to your face and then emulsified with water and you’re done. I tend to double cleanse my doing one more cleanse with my usual face cleanser but the good news is that all my makeup is off already so this is really quick. And then at least I can sleep peacefully knowing I’m not doing my skin damage overnight!

Oil cleansers really are the way forward if you need to remove lots of makeup in a flash and this non-comedogenic cleansing formula is soap-free, sulfate-free and mineral oil free too! (R650)

3. Onion earrings from Kirsten Goss

My birthday was at the end of July so I was spoilt to receive a few of my favourite things on the day… and I’ve been enjoying them the whole month of August!

Fortunately (after many years of training) my husband knows where to head for a spot of spoiling and he got it right with a brand new pair of Kirsten Goss Onion earrings in silver!

This classic shape has been on my wish list for years and I’m thrilled to finally have a pair of my own to pair with all manner of outfits and to wear day or night! Such a versatile earring that I’ve already received many compliments on! Thanks babe x (R1080)

4. Morgan Taylor Figure 8’s and Heartbreak nail enamel

I love a new nail polish colour and this pretty new colour from Morgan Taylor had my finger tips tapping this month!

A beautiful Dusty Mauve that has been perfect for the wintery weather, Figure 8’s and Heartbreaks is from their Great Ice-scape collection.

This collection features six new shades, all inspired by figure skating. The limited edition colours in this collection are all cool-toned, evoking the icy-cool feeling of winter and the sport. Other colours in the collection include a soft pink shimmer, a milky blue, and a copper shimmer. (R149)

5. Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules

Winter has a way of wreaking havoc on skin and I find that my skin becomes so much more dehydrated in the colder months. (I’m sure it’s even worse for those of you based in the interior of the country!)

Fortunately this little daily treat from Elizabeth Arden has come to my skin’s rescue…

The Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum are iconic for a reason! These golden capsules offer a lightweight, silky-smooth serum that infuses skin with youth-restoring ceramides and potent botanicals for a visibly smoother, firmer and youthful appearance.

Advanced Ceramide Capsules help to replenish and restore the ceramides your skin thus moisturizing and strengthening your skin’s integrity.

A few of the benefits include:

• Immediately re-texturizes and revitalizes the look of skin.

• Visibly improves skin’s radiance.

• Supports skin’s natural collagen for a firmer look.

• Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

• Enhances skin hydration for a fresh and balanced feel.

I’m loving the extra moisture boost for my skin and it’s definitely improved the texture and radiance… and who doesn’t want “glowing from within” skin??

That’s it folks!
