43 things – update

So in the process of starting my new blog i had to revisit my old blog….one of the links from my old blog was a site called 43 things where you can write down all your goals for life. Here is my list from my life in London circa 2005 (I hope I have made some progress!):

1. Visit Australia & New Zealand (not yet)
2. Get a digital SLR camera (yes but must learn how to use the manual settings which is the whole point of having an SLR!)
3. be a great wife (of course i am – might have to check with husband tho)
4. stop biting my nails (oops)
5. volunteer (have done a few projects but still on my ‘to do’ list)
6. Be on time (most of the time! my resolution last year was to not rush so this has helped)
7. be more creative (have been recently must keep it up)
8. Make new friends (yip – some great ones!!)
9. start a wine collection (must try harder to not drink all the wine i am ‘collecting’ – i think this will remain a FAIL)
10. own a bookshop (still tops my list – a children’s one preferably)
11. go for hikes more often (FAIL)
12. Adopt a baby (have 2 of my own so putting a hold on this for now…)
13. work from home (does ‘mom’ work count?)
14. Drink eight glasses of water each day (oh dear)
15. exercise 3X a week (managing twice a week currently which is my all time best)
16. decide what i want to do with my hair (well i had it cut for the first time in 9 months so that’s a start – right?)
17. take a photography class (did a one day course but keen to do a more intensive one when i can get the cash)
18. lead someone to Christ (not yet but living by example as much as i can)
19. Have Kids (check)
20. be a mother (check – one and the same really???)
21. wake up when my alarm clock goes off (my baby is my alarm clock now – i HAVE to wake up)
22. go on more road trips (day trips once a month, road trips once a year)
23. read more classic literature (def reading more but not much classic stuff)
24. dive the great barrier reef (nope)
25. learn to SCUBA dive (not yet)
26. learn french (non)
27. Decorate my living space (yes but this is ever evolving so would like to do it again!)
28. go surfing (does bodyboarding count?)
29. buy a new car (still waiting…)
30. keep in touch with friends (facebook = yay)
31. read every book I own (ooops)
32. live by the sea (back in cape town but just need a house with a view of water now…. sigh)
33. Travel to Italy (yes – twice and it is AWESOME)
35. plant a garden (yes but is a rather sad right now in the heat of Feb)
36. visit NYC (not yet)
37. work because I like to, not because I have to (getting there)
38. study Bible daily (yikes this is a conscience pricker – i get there about 3 x a week)
39. be a better listener (not sure – probably not. i do like to talk about myself….)
40. get a dog (boy and i are working on the husband)
41. get a bachelor’s degree (no – but not sure how important this is now to me. think i may have got over my feelings of inadequecies so that is progress!)
42. spend less, save more (FAIL)
43. Write a good book (might get to this when i’m retired 🙂 )

So how did I do – not too bad or could do better????

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
