Lovely Leigh from Pretty Mint is sharing my space this week. She has two degrees in finance but now works as a swimwear designer. Essentially she swapped practicality for passion; finance for fashion; suits for swimwear! Sounds like a good trade if you ask me 🙂
Find out more about Leigh’s life here…
That hard work, a grateful attitude and being conscious of what you put out into the world are the foundations of a happy life.
I also know that tenacity and never giving up are so important when it comes to living the life you want to.
Fight hard for it. This applies to who and what you love, your dreams and goals, and mostly importantly, for yourself and being happy.
Being happy is a choice and its up to you to forgive, forget and move on from the bad things, and to really cherish the good things.
Lastly, who you spend your time with ultimately dictates who you become. Choose wisely and shed friends who drag you down.
Failing following that advice, shoes and candy are the answer to just about anything.
My best friend, soulmate and the person that I can always be stupid with, my husband. He is closely followed by my gorgeous and ridiculously fluffy corgi-cross-something pup Vida.
On a more superficial note, I adore my little beast of a car, traveling abroad (particularly around America), spa days with friends, a great cup of coffee, hot yoga, studded shoes, sushi, bubble baths and just about any products to add to bubble baths.
Other loves are the spoils from husband that will eventually become heirloom pieces that I can hand down to my daughter one day, like my Tiffany & Co bracelet and my Louboutins (that I only get to officially open and wear in December for my 30th). Ladies, marry a man who knows you and spoils you accordingly!
I also have yet to meet a cupcake I didn’t like.
I spend a lot of time reading magazines and blogs lately, and my list of books to read is getting longer and longer as a result of me not making time to read them.
I enjoy learning and for this reason I am signing up to study again next year. Hopefully soon I’ll be popping the bubbly to degree number 3!
I want to be able to eat whatever I want without putting on weight.
I want an unlimited budget for each and every time I go into Zara.
I want my fledgling blog to become a powerhouse, a major influencer and a solid business.
I want South Africa to do better. I wish so badly we all felt safe in our own homes and cars.
I want the fairytale – 2 kids, the big pretty house near the sea, the 2 labradors (I’d even settle for those instead of kids)
I want to travel more.
I want a Toblerone right now.
Arg. As much as a I love fashion, I am totally unable to commit to a certain style. I am still learning about what suits my body and personality. I flit between girly, trendy, classic and bohemian all the time.
So far, I have learnt that my staples include:
Skinny dark blue jeans, a big black structured bag, a floppy leather bohemian style bag, dainty jewellery except for a chunky gold watch, pretty skirts and dresses that can be dressed up or down, Converse sneakers and a large selection of ballet pumps. I probably have about 25 pairs. I am totally obsessed with ballet pumps. May they never go out of fashion!
A big fat shiny new SLR camera so I can blog with the best of them!
To be more disciplined when it comes to training and exercise.
To try more recipes and craft projects.
To become better at Excel.
Boobs. I think I need bigger boobs.
