What I… Jax Howie from Twin Noakes

Recently I featured an interview with South African actress Jeanne Neilson in my Women at Work series and mentioned another project she is currently involved with – a lifestyle experiment of sorts featuring herself and her identical twin while they each follow a different diet for a period of 2 months. Jeanne has been following a high protein diet and Jax a high carb diet. Along the way they have been having a variety of tests done to track any changes in their cholesterol, BMI, measurements and weight. There are now only a few days remaining but you can track their progress thus far on their blog called Twin Noakes (the study is being monitored by Prof Tim Noakes hence the name!)

Today I have asked Jax Howie, Jeanne’s twin and the lovely lady behind their daily blog, to share a few of her answers to my “What I…” questions.

Know

The more I learn, the less I know.

Love

My obvious answer is family and friends. But on a more superficial level … give me time on the lawn at our holiday house in Kei Mouth – watching the kids enjoy the sun and sea like I did when I was their age you have one very happy Jax!

Read

I’m a sucker for historical novels. Edward Rutherford, James Michener and the like. I get lost in the settings, swept up in the stories and intrigued by the history they allude to.

Want

My home is the centre of my world and I love seeing my family and friends enjoy being there. Because it’s so important to me, I naturally want it to be as amazing as it can be. So I have a ‘want’ list that is constantly at the back of my mind. Some things are “have to have/ change” and others are “would like to’s”. An awning here, a pergola there, beautiful flowers, new garden furniture etc. For now I’ll just pretty things up with flowers and good food!

Wear

I’m at my most comfortable in clothes that are either casual or smart but always have a touch of elegance to them.

Need

A new car. As much as I try to appreciate the little one I have now, I long for a proper “mommy car” again. I had a nice little 4×4 which gave up the ghost a while ago. It was so nice to load the kids and bags in without having to bed over and bump my head. I could fetch and carry things and people with ease and just felt great driving up high. I know this may make me a bit of a snob, but hey, it’s the truth!

Thanks for taking part Jax! Congrats on the success of your project. I’m sure the findings will be interesting reading!!
