What I… Chanel from How Far From Home

I recently received an email from new blogging duo Chanel and Steve who are embarking on a How Far From Home journey which they will be documenting on their blog and found it a fascinating idea.

I’ll let them explain…

After nearly 15 combined years of work in the advertising and branding industries, our lives were pretty set. They were filled with family, friends, amazing jobs, shiny cars and a beautiful home. Sounds pretty great, hey? Well we thought so too…until we felt the routine of perfection creeping up on us and aging us with its complacency. We were no longer feeling challenged, and thinking back to the last time my life hit a little wall, the ‘Yes Man’ theory had risen its shiny head again, except this time, there was two of us saying “yes” to the world, and all it has to offer. We’re looking at a journey that allows us to live outside of the shuddering comfort zone, and gives us the opportunity to say “yes” to a whole bunch of crazy cool experiences whilst fueling our creative needs. So on March 2nd 2015, we waved goodbye to sunny South Africa, and said “yes” to the next available flight.

What I…

Know – Creative thinking can solve absolutely any problem.

Love – The sound of our cameras’ shutters at 5am, as we overlook yet another sunrise.

Read – Besides captions in our Instagram feeds, anything digital that’s travel – and creativity-related. Recent paperbacks also include James Wallman’s Stuffocation and Miki Agrawal’s Do Cool Sh*t.

Want – To successfully tick off our entire Wanderlist, and then create another one.

Chanel - Burghausen, Germany

Wear – Not much, unless we’re in public. Then we’re probably sporting some jeans, t-shirts and hoodies.

Need – To collect more memories, and not things.

Steve - Vienna, Austria

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for almost 6 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
