On Friday last week I was invited to attend the media launch of Wellness Café – a new concept launched by Wellness Warehouse at the ever-trendy Wembley Square in Cape Town.
With their philosophy of natural products, organic living, health and wellness, Wellness Warehouse is definitely a brand I resonate with so I knew that this would be an experience I would enjoy and the fact it involved food was even better!
As was to be expected the food was fabulous! A buffet table piled high with an amazing variety of salads, vegetarian options and the most amazing beef goulash – all totally healthy and delicious – what a treat to feel no guilt about piling my plate high!
The buffet menu included tasty options for such as the Raw Beetroot and Carrot Salad with Goji Berries and Mulberries, Butternut Feta and Pumpkin Seed Quiche, Quinoa with Apricot, Sun Dried Tomatoes and Mixed Peppers – all recommended! (I made sure I did my duty to my readers to try it all – how thoughtful of me!) The café caters well for special dietary needs with vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, diabetic and dairy-free food options. Taste, texture and spice are combined in grains, proteins, fibre and farm fresh fruit and veg. Another real bonus is that you can order one of their wholesome meals in family-sized quantities for a delicious home feast.
Here are a few snaps of the buffet table…
Apart from the heaving buffet table which is available every day until 6pm you can also order off the Al la Carte Menu which offers Wraps, Sandwiches, Burgers and Pasta as well as scrumptious breakfast offerings and a few sweet treats to round off your meal such as Love Snack Florentine, Gluten Free Carrot Cake or the Superfood Brownie.
If you’re just looking for super smoothie or quick cuppa you can pop in for that too and connect to their free wi-fi while you’re there!
Wellness Café ticks all the boxes of international dining trends towards green restaurants, sourcing ingredients ethically and eating local, seasonal wholefoods. The Wellness Cafe ensures it supports growing trends such as the movement to plant-based diets and organic eating.
“The café creates an excellent opportunity to introduce alternative products and superfoods to the market, but leave the choices up to them. We want consumers to try previously obscure foods and discover just how deliciously healthy they are. – Sean Gomes, Wellness Warehouse Co-founder”
The Café at Wembley Square is designed to show how easy it is to develop sustainable eco-coscious eating habits, and develop a healthier lifestyle that works for you. It’s definitely a great place to pop in for a delicious and healthy lunch and I’ll be sure to pop in next time I’m in town.
