The missing diamond….
Last night my sometime OCD husband got into a “clean up this house” mood. I do appreciate these moods, but don’t always share them. Anyway I summoned up some energy to join him and started with my bedside table. Suddenly, I noticed something shiny on the floor next to the bed and realised it was ONE of my diamond stud earrings. I usually take them off at night and put them on my bedside table and this meant that the other one should be in the near vicinity, but NO, it was not in the usual spot which suddenly meant … Read More »
Sweet Paul Spring 2012
My favourite online magazine, Sweet Paul, launches it’s Spring Edition (it’s published in the Northern Hemisphere to those of you confused..). I love Paul’s style and every page is filled with delicious food, beautiful styling and great ideas. Here are some sneak peeks via Bright Bazaar Seems as if tones of blue are having a moment this season. Love. Look out for plenty of pretty pastels in time for Easter and Spring too (see the cover!). Pin It50 ways to change your life for under R50
At the beginning of the year I sat down to think of my New Year’s Resolutions – I usually pick something to give up (this year is fizzy drinks – Coke!) and a word to focus on (Truth)… besides that I’m not particularly good at keeping them! After thinking about it for a while I realised that what might be easier for me is to make small changes throughout the year – a new one every week. I had planned to blog weekly in detail about each change but as you can tell it is now the beginning of March … Read More »
Keep calm and…
Last year I had shared a weekly series which featured a variety of “Keep Calm and…” posters. When I had blog issues I decided to move forwards and not spend too much time uploading previous posts that had been lost in transition so unfortunately I don’t have them here any longer but I do still have a fondness for “Keep Calm” posters and was thrilled to discover a “Keep Calm-o-matic” – a website where you can generate your own version of the Famous Poster! So here are my two versions. I tried to make one with Keep Calm and Keep … Read More »
Marni for H&M
One country which features near the top of my travel bucket list is Morocco… I think it’s a place that would serve up the right mix of relaxing and adventuring! I love this gorgeous video of the new Marni for H&M clothing line which was shot by Sofia Coppola in Marrakesh, Morocco. Just beautiful! Watch it here: So pretty! Now if only H&M would decide to open up it’s doors on our shores…. they were my favourite shop while I lived in the UK and they have had some great collaborations with amazing designers over the years… How about it … Read More »
Life Lessons
I recently came across this list of Life Lessons written down by Regina Brett, columnist at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio & a 2008/2009 Pulitzer Prize Finalist. I enjoy reading wise words and quotes and often post these on my blog or Facebook page. I really liked this list however as it seems to summarise all aspects of life in just 45 points. Worth going back to every now and again…. 1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. … Read More »
Taschen’s Home Turf
As I might have mentioned I adore books of all shapes and sizes, however I have a particular passion for coffee table books – the heavier the better! One of my favourite publishers is Angelika Taschen who publishes books under the Taschen label. Her focus is on publishing beautiful books about art, interiors, design, gardens – all topics I love. The photography is always breathtaking and I especially love the interiors featured – always original and inspiring. Over the years I have added to my collection, the titles I have so far include: Gardens in France, Provence Interiors, Seaside Interiors … Read More »
Quirky, Cute and Colourful
I have a bit of a thing for all things French and I’m always a sucker for bookshelves so I just love this colourful apartment in Nimes, France – the town where Denim orginated!! This home belongs to artist couple Myriam and Dominique who decided to escape the busyness of Paris and moved to a large apartment in the city of Nîmes, France. The apartment with high ceilings and large windows is situated in a building that was constructed in 1835. The large space makes it possible to move freely, to entertain friends and for their two children to play. … Read More »
