Lion of Judah movie
Earlier this week I was lucky enough to attend the premier of a fabulous new South African animated movie – “Lion of Judah” – at the Labia Theatre in Gardens. I took along a very handsome young man as my date – my son! He was enthralled with going to see a movie on the BIG screen (and it was very big for a 5 year old 3 rows from the front!) and we both really enjoyed the movie’s storyline – a great evening of entertainment for parent and kid alike. The story follows the lives of a group of … Read More »

It seems like a great one to add to my collection of classics that can be re-watched over and over again! Marni for H&M
One country which features near the top of my travel bucket list is Morocco… I think it’s a place that would serve up the right mix of relaxing and adventuring! I love this gorgeous video of the new Marni for H&M clothing line which was shot by Sofia Coppola in Marrakesh, Morocco. Just beautiful! Watch it here: So pretty! Now if only H&M would decide to open up it’s doors on our shores…. they were my favourite shop while I lived in the UK and they have had some great collaborations with amazing designers over the years… How about it … Read More »
War Horse
Today the long-awaited, Steven Spielberg directed, Oscar nominated movie War Horse is released in South Africa. I have heard such good things about this movie and can’t wait to schedule a date night with my husband – def looks like one both of us will enjoy! We both love going to the cinema and this is definitely one thing that seems to slip off the radar once you have kids! When we do eventually convince someone to babysit for us and get out on our own we generally want to talk and catch up so go for dinner rather but … Read More »
The Vow Movie
Last night, after an exhausting weekend, I decided a movie night on the couch would be in order and as I was in a nostalgic mood I felt like rewatching one of my old favourites. Now I’m not usually one to repeat view movies but there are a few that rank up there as movies I could happily watch many times over. These include Pretty Women, You’ve Got Mail, The Sound of Music, Love Actually, Dirty Dancing and last nights choice – The Notebook! That movie has to be one of my favourites…. the story, acting, settings, costumes, music and … Read More »
The Great Gatsby official movie pics
So looking forward to watching “The Great Gatsby” when it is released later this year. Mostly because I want to see how they capture the 20′s on film. I love period films mostly due to the costumes and the 20′s is an amazing period for divine clothes, scarves, pearls, flapper dresses… Last month a few pics were released by Warner Bros to tempt us! What do you think – doesn’t Carey Mulligan look amazing? image source: Warner Bros via eOnline
Behind the scenes of The Great Gatsby
I’m super excited about the new movie version of one of the best novels of the 20th century – The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald – which is currently being filmed. Director Baz Luhrmann’s 2012 version stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan and Tobey Maguire as the narrator of the story – Nick Carraway. Other stars appearing in the ensemble cast include Gemma Ward and Isla Fisher. The story is set in Long Island and New York City and takes place in 1922, 4 years before the crash of Wall Street and the start … Read More »
My week with Marilyn – the movie
A few weeks back I posted some pics of the gorgeous Michelle Williams posing as Marilyn Monroe (such an incredible likeness!!!) The pics were taken by Annie Lebovitz to promote the new movie called “My week with Marilyn”. Well the movie is soon to be released in the US and UK and should be making it’s way to our shores soon. In the meantime watch a sneak peek here. Marilyn had the world at her feet and walked down the aisle first with a world famous baseball player and second with a critically-acclaimed playwright. But it was a young Eton-educated … Read More »
