Top 10 places for High Tea in Cape Town
This coming Sunday is Mothers’ Day in South Africa. It’s a day set aside to celebrate moms. Since I became a mom almost 6 years ago I have seen the value in this day in a much clearer light and whole-heartedly believe that it is a great opportunity to show your mom how special she is to you. Often with the pace of life as it is we don’t express our love and thoughts to those most special to us. We let everyday opportunities slip past and only when it is a “special” day do we actually put into words … Read More »
Decorex 2012
Decorex Cape Town is happening this weekend (26th – 29th April) at the CTICC are you planning to pop in? I am hoping to go a little bit later today… If you are planning to go please remember to support the Naledi Literacy Project by taking along any second hand children’s books you are happy to donate to this worthy cause. This year M-net Cares are supporting Literacy Project which encourages the importance of reading and literacy in young South Africans. All the books collected will be donated to a new library that is being renovated. While at Decorex Cape … Read More »
Cape Town Science Centre
Since the arrival of my second child 2 years ago I have had to be more mindful of finding ways to spend one-on-one time with my eldest. As he is at school in the mornings I get plenty of alone time with his sister (as I did with him when he was still at home) but once he is home it is always three of us. A few weeks back I found myself missing time with my first born. When he was younger my husband was studying part time for a few years which meant it was often just him … Read More »
Coco li
Last week I popped into De Waterkant last week and stopped by the sweet boutique – Coco li. Started in 2004 by sisters, Leigh and Lana, this upmarket shop offers a beautiful array of gifts, accessories and fashion items including swimwear and sleepwear. The style of the shop is similar to a treasure box filled with pretty, colourful jewels! It is a great place to pop in for uniquely sourced products – both local and international – including jewellery, ceramics and homewear. The sisters have a background in design and a keen eye especially for anything vintage in style. This … Read More »
Kirsten Goss London, comes to Cape Town!
On Tuesday evening I was invited to attend a Kirsten Goss London jewellery pop-up shop at The Cellars Hohenort Hotel in Constantia. This wasn’t the first time I have heard about this upmarket South African jewellery brand (especially as they have just won the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa for 2012 at the recent Design Indaba) but it was the first time I was able to get up close to the gorgeous designs – and WOW – what an amazing range of lovely things to feast your eyes on! So much sparkle!! Kirsten Goss’ jewellery range is a beautiful, … Read More »

Top 10 things to do in the Easter School Holidays in Cape Town
So the Easter School Holidays are upon us with most schools breaking-up in the next few days. As most parents I find myself faced with a whole lot of empty days on my calendar and I can’t help but feel a little bit nervous about how I am going to entertain 2 small people for 2-plus weeks… In order to make the next few weeks exciting and fun rather than frustrating and drab, I have done a bit of research for ideas of things to do with kids in Cape Town during the Easter School Holidays and here is my … Read More »
Weekend Wanderings – Green Point Park
Late last Saturday afternoon we were in the city centre after visiting the National Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the SA National Musueum (one of my “must visit” exhibitions held each year at this time) We weren’t quiet ready to head home yet so I suggested a visit to the new kids play area at Green Point Park. I had visited the section for 0 – 6 year olds but never the area for slightly older kids and wanted to see what was on offer. When we arrived I was overwhelmed by the number of families out enjoying … Read More »
Weekend Wanderings – St James Beach
As we enjoy the last few weeks of summer I have been trying to find ways to make the most of these beautiful days and the amazing, wind-free weather we are currently enjoying. One way has been to start most Saturday mornings down on St James beach located only 10 minutes drive from our house! This lovely little beach is perfect for kids as there is a tidal pool which gradually deepens and plenty of rock pools for exploring. We try to pack light and only take our bare essentials – towels, costumes, fishing net and buckets and spades plus … Read More »
