I think a love of live performance in the way of theatre, ballet, orchestra, puppet shows or amateur school plays is such a lovely interest to instill in kids from a young age and vividly recall going to see the ballet with my granny at the old Nico Malan (now Artscape) as well as various shows for kids on our holidays down to Cape Town – these special outings were always accompanied by such excitement and I have continued that tradition with my own kids that we always have a visit to the theatre during each school holiday…. Aaaaah 3 weeks of winter school holidays await us parents and although I do enjoy not having to jump out of bed in the dark to pack lunch boxes and rush around doing the school run the thought of entertaining 2 little people during the rainy days ahead doesn’t fill me with joy!
