Spa Review: Life Day Spa at The Waterfront, Cape Town

Do you ever have days when you’re just so grateful for your life?

I try to do that every day, but some are definitely better than others…

Like the Tuesday morning I found myself heading off to the Waterfront for a spa launch.

I had expected that it would just be a typical beauty launch with a glass of bubbles and a couple of canapes, except that then they informed us that we would be experiencing not 1 but 4 treatments!!!!

Seriously, I love being a blogger! There are some downsides to be sure… but the perks totally make up for it and spending the morning at the sparkling new Life Day Spa at the Pavilion (the old BMW Pavilion) was such a treat.

This new spa space is incredible. The interiors in the reception and waiting area are super stylish and there are huge windows allowing in lots of light, a vertical wall garden and a soothing water feature plus a refreshment station offering fruit flavoured water, orange juice or an espresso.

We were given a tour through the spa and shown the beautiful indoor heated swimming pool, the rasul, the steam room and the flotation pool that uses salt to keep you afloat for ultimate relaxation …. definitely going back to enjoy that one!

After changing into my robe in the spacious changing rooms and stowing my stuff in the computerised locker, I got to experience one of the beautiful rooms complete with virtual aquarium and light therapy (you choose the colour of the ambient light you prefer the room to be lit in during your treatment!)

A 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage was followed by a 30 minute Express Facial with Nimue products. (complete with heated booties on my feet!!) It was an hour well spent!

Then it was time for an Express Pedi which took place in the comfortable chairs overlooking the Waterfront. The highlight was the wonderful paraffin cream they use to moisturise your feet at the end of the treatment. And there was just enough time to squeeze in a quick mani before I had to race back to the Southern Suburbs to fulfil my mommying duties for the rest of the day…. (aaaah reality, you cruel beast!)

The Life Day Spa at the Waterfront looks set to become a really popular day spa destination with locals who sometimes feel intimidated by going to spas at hotels and with those looking for great deals. The spa has really competitive pricing and is offering some amazing opening specials. At the moment you can book a 60min Anti-Ageing Facial for R690 and get a free Back, Neck and Shoulder massage worth R390 or book a a signature pedicure and get a free Express Manicure worth R190.

The spa uses Nimue, Babor, Optiphi, La Prairie products and OPI polishes and Gelish. The retail section is well stocked with all these brands.
