Spa Review: Fancourt Spa

Could there be anything better for a mom than a day at the spa?

Nope. There isn’t! (hint hint husbands!!)

On our recent visit to Fancourt I was fortunate enough to have been booked in for a back, neck and shoulder massage (my best!) and it was indeed the very best way to spend an hour on holiday.

After a very busy morning exploring all that George has to offer for families, I was only to happy to I escape to the tranquil surroundings of the beautiful Fancourt spa.

I arrived a leisurely 20 mins before my treatment so that I could settle in slowly…. robe, slippers, sips of tea in the reception area. A spa treatment is not just about the actual act of receiving a massage. It’s about taking the time to indulge yourself and enjoy the whole experience.

An oasis of sensory bliss

Fancourt spa is an award-winning spa designed to provide guests with a deeply relaxing experience. Inspired by the harmony of the four elements; air, water, fire and earth, the spa has an incredibly calming atmosphere that is apparent immediately on arrival.

My massage was pure bliss thanks to the heated room, essential oil scent and my therapists gentle care. I chose my oil based on my current state of mind and opted for the uplifting oil from Bellabaci.

Fortunately at Fancourt there is an amazing Kidz Club and Teen Zone so I was in no rush to head back “home” to fetch the kids. I knew they would be in no hurry to leave having recently found some friends to hang out with!

This meant I could send a message to my husband to come to the spa after his gym session and enjoy some chill time with me!

What an inspired idea!!

We first headed to the Roman Bath – a large heated indoor pool set in a beautiful room with views over the Outeniqua mountains. Then we spent some time in the neighbouring jacuzzi.

The Fancourt spa has a number of awesome facilities that are all open for the guests of the hotel to use at leisure, so after our time in the Roman Bath area we headed to the Steam Room and then the Sauna and then the Tepidarium! We definitely made the most of our time spending at least 20 mins in each, showering with ice cold water between each!

It was completely invigorating and totally relaxing…. a lovely way to spend some time catching up too!

But after 2 hours in the spa facilities I still wasn’t quite ready to leave so after my (warm) shower I donned my robe once more and headed up to the reception area to unwind with a cup of herbal tea and the latest magazines.

3 hours later, as dusk was setting in, I finally emerged!

Beautifully relaxed I was ready to face my family again… and they were totally not interested in where’d I’d been all afternoon. I could have stayed another 3 hours they were so happy with their new mates enjoying their fun facilities!! What a win.
